Just had another great stay - food and wine marvellous. Staff really friendly and professional. Porters so full of character. Great room and fittings are luxurious. Chester is a great location. We love it!

We stayed for the weekend as a family and had a most enjoyable time. Very efficient valet parking and welcome from the doormen. We enjoyed some treatments in the spa; although the changing rooms and facilities are rather small the staff were lovely. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms on arrival but you can ring for a complimentary tray to be brought up which means fresh milk but alas no biscuits! Dinner in the brasserie (preceded by excellent cocktails) was very good. The wine list was reasonable, the butter delicious and I can thoroughly recommend the fillet 'burger' with beef cheek - fantastic. Yes the rooms are expensive and you would expect full breakfast to be included in the price but the service is great and for an occasional old fashioned luxury treat it's worth it.

Room Tip: We overlooked an inner courtyard, some noise from a wedding disco but no problems getting to sleep a...

I was not pleased to have 2 narrow single beds in a so called de luxe room. Also a shower curtain over the bath was not acceptable at a 5 star hotel we then upgraded to a suite which did have a shower cubicle but still the narrow single beds. No coffee tray unless we asked for one and then no biscuits but we could have paid extra for chocolates or crisps etc which were laid out in the room all extras??? 2 small tvs in room one didn't work other with problem screen seen better days also trouser press broken portions in the Simon Radley were very small thank goodness for the lovely bread trolley Good position in centre of Chester Staff very helpful and I liked the valet parking hotel very clean but needs updating probably would not return as the 5 star price does not reflect a 5 star value hotel shame as it has been a good hotel in the past and not moved with the times

Room Tip: don't have the suite overlooking front very noisy with drunks on a night out

Chester Grosvenor is a fabulous hotel in the centre of Chester.

Our room overlooked Eastgate and must have been recently refurbished as the whole room and fixtures and fittings were beautiful and tastefully done.

Only (negative) comment would be in regard to price. At £350 per night they are charging Savoy & ME hotel (in London) type prices and I wouldn't pay that again. Think you have to offer something very special for £350 for a one night stay in a regional city or town.

We also found their sister hotel while exploring - Oddfellows' Hall and had a delicious lunch there. Fabulous funky styling and would stay there next time for half the price of the Grosvenor.

My wife and I stayed here on 21/3/14 to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed at the Grosvenor before and knew we were in for a treat. We booked through SLHW and received a room upgrade to a suite and two glasses of champagne and chocolates on arrival. I've been lucky enough to stay in some quality hotels in the past but the suite we were allocated was the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but we did have the full English breakfast which I feel was well worth the £7.50 surcharge.
I could go on about the quality of the decor etc etc but in truth I would expect such quality from a hotel of this standard. What really makes the Grosvenor stand out are the staff. From the moment you arrive to when you check out you are pampered and looked after by extremely professional and friendly staff, they often remember your name and at no time do you feel their attention is either false or fawning.
To the staff, "Thankyou"

My wife and I spent a wonderful night at the Chester Grosvenor. Although it is quite a large hotel it did not feel corporate and the friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome. The decor is Art Deco and is a very standard standard throughout the hotel. We had continental breakfast in the Brasserie which was excellent. A choice of toast, cereal, porridge, fruit salads and pastries. I see other contributors have complained about the £7.50 supplement for Full English. I was aware of this and was more than happy with my continental breakfast so this was not an issue! The only slight disappointment was the Spa. At £35 per room per stay, it is expensive for a very nice but small sauna, steam room, salt room and relaxation room. The hotel is in a great location and I will definitely return.

We spent the night of 10 March 2014 at the Grosvenor. Having arrived after a long drive and in short of time to attend a funeral at the Chester Cathedral, our car was whisked away and valet parked and out luggage taken to our room before the normal checking in time of 2pm. We had requested that a room be available should we wish to change as the funeral was at 1.45pm. However the staff had prepared our room and everything was ready for us. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and the room was beautiful, clean and well furnished. At dinner that night we were extremely well looked after and the staff could not have been more knowledgeable or helpful. The food in the Bistro was excellent and a good menu. A very big thank you to all.
