Be aware ... on checking in, the Hotel expect you to hand over a Debit/Credit card which is fine but they put a 'HOLD' on £200 of your money (which was part funds for our weekend away and would restrict us ) if you used a Debit card the funds would not be back into your account for at least 10 days. After having a debate the Manager decided it would be ok to not hand over the cards on this occasion but to leave out car keys with them instead!!

We had booked this hotel on the intention of using the spa, to be told it was another £35 per room and this would last for the whole of your stay - considering the price of the rooms you would think the spa would be in with the price.

The staff were very friendly and hotel very clean and lush - the continental breakfast was nice but for a full english you had to pay more....

£72 B&B rate - amazing! My number 1 requirement - a great shower - tick.
My number 2 requirement - porridge - tick. 'How does breakfast work here' I asked 'You sit down and relax sir and we do all the rest.' The porridge was perfection and the toast....oh the toast. I don't normally do toast in hotels as I'm a bit of a real bread fan, but this was the greatest toast I've eaten ever! And that is saying something. My room was excellent and the service in the bar was top-notch. A very enjoyable stay.

Having been to Chester a number of times we'd always promised ourselves a stay here. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. First class old fashioned quality service in a hotel with genuine charm. Superb Michelin one star restaurant that is a must for any visitor.

Very nice rooms. Excellent service and in a great location!
The door man was great, parking the car, and giving us help where to go.
We had some treatments in the spa which were lovely, and not to expensive.

My wife & I had the pleasure of staying two nights at The Chester Grosvenor Hotel on 9 & 10 September, 2013 which is in a fabulous location situated right in the middle of the Chester Mall. On arrival in Chester and finding it a little hard to establish where to park, we decided to park outside the city centre and walk to the hotel. On arrival doorman 'John' could not be more helpful and elected to walk with me (close to a kilometre) back to our car and drive our car around the rear of the hotel and up into the adjoining car park. We were most impressed with this most hospitable gesture. The hotel is of an exceptional standard with the room and separate bathroom nicely appointed, with the bed being the biggest and most comfortable we had ever slept in. Breakfast which is served in the ground floor restaurant was very good and the service equally as good. Our only negative would be that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and we feel that with the price of rooms here it would have been nice to have had that provided - after a day out seeing the sights it would have been nice to come back to the room and relax with a cuppa.. Overall we loved our stay here and would be more than happy to come back again.

Room Tip: we had a room at the back - was whisper quiet

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night while in Chester with a friend, from the word go it was a wonderful stay, the staff were friendly check in was fast. We had booked an excecutive room which was extremely large, with a huge big comfortable bed, the most comfortable I have had at a hotel for a long time with plenty of room to stretch out, we had done quite alot of shopping while there and there was plenty of room to put our bags out of the way. Also very good sound proofing despite being on the second floor and it being a Saturday when we stayed the only real street noise that we heard was from a busker who was located just accross the street from where our room was and we heard non from inside the hotel itself despite the fact our room was near the stairs (the chandelier that is surrounded by the stairs is a must see, it's beautiful). The bathroom was clean and well laid out, I would of prefered a seperate shower but at least there was a bath, most hotels these days only have showers. It is not the cheapest hotel in Chester, but it is right in the centre, with the friendliest staff and the most wonderful atmosphere, this really is a true indication of you get what you pay for. I would deffinately stay again.
