“Wonderful Spa break”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

Enjoyed 2 nights here, enjoying Chester and environs by day and spa and food by night.
The hotel is very good, from the traditional oak paneling in the halls, to the delicious food in the restaurant.
Very little needs changing, although there are some minor works which could be done (evidence of cracks etc in the spa area), and the music seemed to constantly be Michael Buble or Bruno Mars. Would also prefer harder pillows - but know my choice is odd compared to most people.
However, could not find fault with the food, room was very comfortable (pillow aside) and staff were very attentive and helpful wherever possible.
Really enjoyed the massages etc in the spa - and would certainly stay again.

Thank you for your lovely review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your 2 nights with us, 'enjoying Chester and environs by day and spa and food by night.'

We are glad that you found 'the hotel is very good, from the traditional oak paneling in the halls, to the delicious food in the restaurant.'

With regards to the pillows we can only apologise if you would have preferred a harder pillow, we do have a range of pillows available, if the reception team had been made aware of this during your stay we would have happily changed this for you. As for the music, we have a variety of albums available and I will certainly pass on your comments to ensure that the music is changed more frequently.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa soon.

I booked this place for our wedding anniversary along with some beauty treatments for the wife. The spa & beauty treatments were lovely although the swimming pool & steam room could have done with a scrub!

Location was great just a shame it was full of oaps!!! Word of advice if you're young please stay away, you'll be extremely bored!

Dinner was fab so was breakfast although the lady who served us breakfast not so. She became a little annoyed when we enquiried what was for breakfast. "It's on the menu!" Was her response. Yet the menu was not on the table. We we requested 2 coffees, which arrived without any sugar. By the time they left us with the sugar our coffees had gone cold!

Oh and the boiler broke down which effected the radiator in our room for a short while however this was rectified in a short space of time.

Although this place has fantastic views, our room did not. All we could see was rooftops of the extention!!! The floorboards creaked literally the whole staircase!

Would I be coming again? Definitely definitely not till I turn 60 something, that's if I live that long!

Thank you for your 4 star review. We would like to say that as a venue we have a wide range of age groups that stay with us, from the young 20 something's to the young at heart. As a spa hotel we offer relaxation and tranquillity with our range of spa treatments and healthclub. For those wanting a more lively evening Chester is only 2.5 miles car ride way.

We stayed at Rowton Hall in September for my wife's birthday. We booked through Secret Escapes, and although I phoned the Hotel prior to confirming the booking to ascertain if they were in a position to match the deal, I was very politely advised that they could not and suggested I continue the booking with Secret Escapes.
This polite attitude was just the start of the excellent Service experience we had at the hotel, and every member of staff were outstanding in every interaction with my wife and I.
We stayed in a deluxe room which was comfortable, spacious and very clean. Along with a king size bed, television, and the usual furniture we had a separate dressing area with wardrobes including a safe. Moving into the spacious bathroom we found a shower, bath and basin along with another TV.
We decided to eat in the hotel on the night and took advantage of the set menu and although we feared that we would be presented with smaller portions which would result in us breaking open the crisps and nuts in the bedroom later on, our fears were very much unfounded.
The food was of excellent quality, the free bottle of wine that came with booking through Secret Escapes was very welcome and delicious and the service, yet again, outstanding!
Retiring to the lounge, for after dinner drinks was the perfect end to a perfect birthday.
Breakfast continued in the same vein and paying the bill was indeed a pleasure.
Great value for money and we
will not hesitate to return and strongly recommend you book yourself.

We went here for 3 nights, the reviews are spot on. From the moment you arrive at the hotel you are made to feel very welcome. Our room was wonderful, the bed was so comfortable and warm. The attention to detail has been very well thought out. We stayed on a bed and breakfast deal booked direct with hotel, of which the breakfast was lovely with lots of variety, of which we ate lots of. We went out each day, Cheshire Oaks, The Zoo and Chester each place definitely worth a visit. Each afternoon/early evening we went down into the swimming pool which was beautifully warm and hardly anyone in there. Its very difficult to describe I words how wonderful the hotel and its staff are. Its all about a feeling you get from staying there, so much as we enquired about staying an extra night but due to a wedding taking place the hotel was fully booked.

We would hope to visit again next year hopefully in the spring and be able to indulge ourselves in this wonderful hotel and be looked after by some lovely people.

Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

I

Room Tip: Our was on top floor, lovely view over gardens of the hotel

Stayed over with my wife after attending a dinner event at the hotel. We decided on a junior suite, number 31 quite nice but much smaller than the it appears on the website. Service is excellent particularly front desk service. Good parking at the hotel and easy reach of Chester. 3 star sleep quality as we were both woken frequently by some kind of pump noise from outside. Bathroom big but basic needs getting at a bit to tidy it up. I've 3 starred the spa only because my wife called them before we left home to try to book a facial when we arrived but nobody called her back. Thinking about it I should of given that 5 star for saving me some money.! Overall a nice hotel, good location, and a great getaway for a night or two. Recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 31 or sleep with all the windows closed.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear that you find 31 smaller than you had imagined, if anything we are commented on how spacious our rooms are.

We are delighted that you found our level of service excellent and I would like to apologise that the spa did not return your call prior to your stay, we pride ourselves on calling our guests back on the same day, I will certainly pass this onto the spa manager.

Thank you for saying that 'Overall a nice hotel, good location, and a great getaway for a night or two. Recommend it.' and we look forward to welcoming you back to Rowton Hall soon.

I have just returned from a wonderful two night break to the Rowton Hall Hotel with my partner for my birthday. We booked this break through Secret Escapes. From the minute we arrived we were treated like we were their only guests. Due to a small hiccup when checking in we were given a free upgrade to the master suite the Henrietta Maria. OH MY LORD.... What a room or should I say suite of rooms. We had our own sitting room with dining table and large flat screen tv, bathroom with its own t.v.! and large bedroom with four poster frame bed. Robes and slippers are complementary, so as previously described in a review, we donned our swim wear, robes and off to the health suite. This was another lovely surprise. Perfectly formed and sized swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.We indulged in a swim and then sauna and steam room. By the time we had finished we were perfectly chilled and relaxed and our shipping aches and pains had drifted away. We returned to our suite and really didnt want to get dressed so ordered room service. Delivered surprisingly quickly by two young men we had a lovely meal sat in our sitting room!!!
Next morning, we presented ourselves for breakfast. Choice of cereals, pastries, fruit salad and yoghurts, juices, tea coffee and of course full cooked breakfast or kippers. All well presented and as good to taste. We spent the day in Chester using the park and ride less than a mile away form the hotel. At £2 each return great value for money and excellent service.
On return we had another trip to the health suite then dressed for our one night included meal. Oh wow, what a meal, served by professional staff and the best meal I have had for a long time. No need to take toiletries, all aromatherapy associate products provided in the showers, bathrooms etc throughout the hotel. Only small chink was the added visitor in our room but what do you expect from a 250 year old hotel!!!! My partner even wrote a poem about it at 4am!!!
Special thanks go to Charlotte for her care, attention and utter professionalism.
