Stayed over with my wife after attending a dinner event at the hotel. We decided on a junior suite, number 31 quite nice but much smaller than the it appears on the website. Service is excellent particularly front desk service. Good parking at the hotel and easy reach of Chester. 3 star sleep quality as we were both woken frequently by some kind of pump noise from outside. Bathroom big but basic needs getting at a bit to tidy it up. I've 3 starred the spa only because my wife called them before we left home to try to book a facial when we arrived but nobody called her back. Thinking about it I should of given that 5 star for saving me some money.! Overall a nice hotel, good location, and a great getaway for a night or two. Recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 31 or sleep with all the windows closed.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear that you find 31 smaller than you had imagined, if anything we are commented on how spacious our rooms are.

We are delighted that you found our level of service excellent and I would like to apologise that the spa did not return your call prior to your stay, we pride ourselves on calling our guests back on the same day, I will certainly pass this onto the spa manager.

Thank you for saying that 'Overall a nice hotel, good location, and a great getaway for a night or two. Recommend it.' and we look forward to welcoming you back to Rowton Hall soon.

I have just returned from a wonderful two night break to the Rowton Hall Hotel with my partner for my birthday. We booked this break through Secret Escapes. From the minute we arrived we were treated like we were their only guests. Due to a small hiccup when checking in we were given a free upgrade to the master suite the Henrietta Maria. OH MY LORD.... What a room or should I say suite of rooms. We had our own sitting room with dining table and large flat screen tv, bathroom with its own t.v.! and large bedroom with four poster frame bed. Robes and slippers are complementary, so as previously described in a review, we donned our swim wear, robes and off to the health suite. This was another lovely surprise. Perfectly formed and sized swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.We indulged in a swim and then sauna and steam room. By the time we had finished we were perfectly chilled and relaxed and our shipping aches and pains had drifted away. We returned to our suite and really didnt want to get dressed so ordered room service. Delivered surprisingly quickly by two young men we had a lovely meal sat in our sitting room!!!
Next morning, we presented ourselves for breakfast. Choice of cereals, pastries, fruit salad and yoghurts, juices, tea coffee and of course full cooked breakfast or kippers. All well presented and as good to taste. We spent the day in Chester using the park and ride less than a mile away form the hotel. At £2 each return great value for money and excellent service.
On return we had another trip to the health suite then dressed for our one night included meal. Oh wow, what a meal, served by professional staff and the best meal I have had for a long time. No need to take toiletries, all aromatherapy associate products provided in the showers, bathrooms etc throughout the hotel. Only small chink was the added visitor in our room but what do you expect from a 250 year old hotel!!!! My partner even wrote a poem about it at 4am!!!
Special thanks go to Charlotte for her care, attention and utter professionalism.

We have just returned from two nights at this wonderful hotel. Everything about the stay was first class, from entering the premises and being greeted by the lovely friendly receptionist. The room we had was the Fairfax, a junior suite, which was amazingly large. with an enormous comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom had not only a bath but also an independent shower with lovely thick and soft cream towels. There was an ample supply of coffee and tea facilities together with biscuits and two bottles of water. The bedroom had nice views over the grounds and was on the first floor, conveniently situated ,so it was easy to carry the suitcases up a flight of stairs.

The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice, including a full breakfast or several alternatives, including kippers. I had poached eggs on both mornings ,which were perfectly cooked, and the service was amazingly quick.

The dinner menus were excellent with a choice of a la carte or a set 3 course menu. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented.

The situation of the hotel is down a quiet road off the A41 Whitchurch Road , and less than a mile away towards Chester from a "Park and Ride". The cost of the bus is just £2 per person, giving excellent value for a journey of about 3 miles. It is only about 10-15 minutes away from Chester Zoo and also Cheshire Oaks, the designer outlet village. There are lots of shops now with designers such as Armani, Mulberry, Reiss, Christies, Pringles, Church and
many more.

This hotel is a real find and we will recommend this hotel to anyone. We certainly hope to visit again.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary, for one night on a Living social deal. Lovely hotel. After a quick visit to Cheshire Oaks (15 minutes away) we had a relaxing afternoon on a lounger by the pool. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant , which was such great value. The Sirloin steak was the best I have ever had. Service was wonderful. The hotel has been really tastefully decorated and although it has kept the old features, the rooms are bright and modern. We really enjoyed our stay and will return. Thinking of treating family and friends to a meal in one of the private dining rooms.

Myself and my partner went on Wednesday 30th for a one night stay on a Living social Deal. This hotel was beautiful, we checked into room 36 which was a lovely room, very clean tidy and modern with complimentary tea, coffee and water. As part our deal we had booked in for a 3 course evening meal, which I must say was one of the best meals I have ever had, I had leek and potato soup for starter with sirloin steak for main and a cheese board to finish, the restaurant is silver service and the food served was of excellent quality, my compliments to the chef. Our waiter defiantly needs a mention Tom he was superb and very professional- well done. The hotel itself with all it's facilities is ideal for a quiet getaway and it's very handy being so close to Chester. I enjoyed my stay so much I will be booking again to go with my mother after Christmas . Thank you.

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely 2 night break at Rowton hall. We were very impressed with the food, the friendly service from staff, the spa facilities and finally our room. As we were there over Halloween a special mention has to go to the staff who designed some super pumpkins which added an extra touch around the hotel. A lovely break and we would certainly return.

We loved it, ideally located for visiting Chester, just up the road from the Park & Ride, also easily accessible to Liverpool. We experienced 2 rooms as the junior suite wasn't available on 1st night. The standard room was very comfortable and relaxing. However the Junior suite was special and lived up to the Hotel's description of paying extra attention to detail, it was a little bit of luxury. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even returning my mobile to me after leaving it in the first room. We ate in the bar on the 1st evening which was very relaxing and of a high standard. We ate in the restaurant on the 2nd night, again a superb meal in very relaxing surroundings. The food was of a high standard but not at extortionate prices, very good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly return.

Room Tip: Splash out and enjoy the luxury of a Junior suite.
