Description: Hickory’s Smokehouse is Chester’s authentic American BBQ. Here you can enjoy a traditional style of cooking that has its roots in the US, but that we think deserves to be just as popular over here. Our menu offers two styles of BBQ. The southern-style ‘Smoker’ BBQ uses slow, wood-fired cooking in our specially imported American smoker oven. The northern-style ‘Yankee’ BBQ is cooked over sizzling hot coals. Both styles create unbelievably tender, delicious meat and fish.

14 of us ate here on Bank Holiday Sunday. Despite us changing our booking size and some people just eating starters etc, the service was oustanding. Food beautiful. Had clam chowder to start and half rack of dry rubbed ribs for main. Good portions and value for money. Sat outside under the patio heaters after our meal. A great evening!

After booking a night in Chester last minute, we weren't sure where to eat and hadn't researched so took pot luck with Hickory's as there was a table free. The restaurant is nicely decorated and even has a small playroom for kids. We were seated in a lovely booth, plenty of room for 2. Great menu that seems pretty authentic. It was so hard to order- too much choice. The drinks were easier, lovely mango and passionfruit daiquiri whilst my other half drank Brooklyn beer. We finally plumped on sharing nachos and buffalo wings to start, followed by Pulled pork and chicken skewers for main. We were tempted by the sides: tasty onion rings and mac'n'cheese. This was followed by more drinks (Apple and Elderflower martini this time).
The desert menu didn't tempt, there didn't seem too much on there, but the meal wasn't let down by this.
Overall, this all came to less than £30 each, which I think is pretty good value.
One more good point: lovely clean bathroom with a selection of toiletries.

If I went back to Chester I would love to go back

Great service, and the menu is fantastic, just what you want from a smoke house. The only gripe I had was I ordered the shrimp skewers for a main course which were 2 skewers with only 4 small shrimps on and the rest was veg. Nice, however more suited to a starter than a main meal - so if you order then, stock up on the side orders too. My friend had the nachos, portion size was huge so get your eat on with the Nachos!!

Went to Hickory's on Monday 10th and found it really good, excellent food well cooked and plenty of it, the suicide wings are really good and very hot. Only problem we had was the price of the cider £3.50 for half which we thought was a little expensive. Would definately go back.
