We visited Chester to meet up with an old friend and to give our 16 week old daughter her first outing outside of our Cambridgeshire home area. I remembered from 20 years a go the building being part of the Old Orleans restaurant chain. I wanted to go somewhere that was not too formal, where we could chat and relax and Hickory's delivered on that part. The restaurant is located on the banks of the River Dee and really has a great view. We were shown to our table and the service was slick. My wife and I ordered pulled pork, which was served with fries, bbq beans and coleslaw and it was to die for. Our friend ordered a full rack of ribs, again delicious.
The sweet menu is small but with enough on it. The cheesecake was ok, and the cookies with a scoop of ice cream (rather than a glass of milk) were warm, soft and well flavoured.
With drinks on top our bill was good value. This place is great for families and for an informal eat with friends. Good job well done!!
