Description: Hickory’s Smokehouse is Chester’s authentic American BBQ. Here you can enjoy a traditional style of cooking that has its roots in the US, but that we think deserves to be just as popular over here. Our menu offers two styles of BBQ. The southern-style ‘Smoker’ BBQ uses slow, wood-fired cooking in our specially imported American smoker oven. The northern-style ‘Yankee’ BBQ is cooked over sizzling hot coals. Both styles create unbelievably tender, delicious meat and fish.

We visited Hickory's yesterday with some friends and their little girls and what a lovely day it was.

Their American menu isn't really my cup-of-tea but I decided to give it a go and was very pleasantly surprised - very good food and fantastic service.

They looked after the children brilliantly and made us all feel very welcome; a really great place to take the family.

I've visited Hickories twice in the last week. Despite the 'good' standard of food, I have to drop the score due to the poor customer service. On Christmas Eve I counted 6 minutes before a waitress could draw herself away from a group of other waitresses to collect my order from the service hatch. The restaurant does not seem equipped to deal with high footfall. And the booking system is somewhat convoluted and unnecessarily drawn out. Email a booking ticket for them to phone you back? Catch them on a good day and they are undoubtedly good. On a bad day, best go to Mcdonalds!!

I only heard about this place about 2 weeks ago from a friend and he highly recommended it so I thought its worth a go, and I wasn't disappointed.
Although I visit Chester quite often I'd never knew this place existed, but as soon as I heard the word 'Smokehouse' I knew it was my next restaurant mission.
I recommend that you book a table because as soon as we got there the place was packed, but after a short wait we sat by the open kitchen, there was a great atmosphere in there.
The food definitely wasn't a let down, I had a burger which was homemade and very very tasty, the prices were quite resonable as well.
All in all this place is a must to anyone visiting Chester.

My girlfriend and I grabbed lunch here last Saturday. From the moment you walk in you are met with friendly faces, two waitresses per table and a great atmosphere in here. It was busy so this is a good sign so i would definitely suggest booking ahead. You are given a bowl of salted popcorn and a bottle of water as soon as you sit down.
There is a great menu and the waitresses strived to describe everything to you in great detail. We both went for burgers with me going for the XXXL Roadhouse burger....;this should have been called a mountain burger as it was massive!

Food was bought out quickly but was fresh, the salad wasn't "tired" and the pulled pork was unbelievable! It did take me a good half hour to eat this burger though as it was a beast!! We both had a milkshake which was really good too.

The only downside is i wish we had booked for dinner as there was so much stuff on the menu to try that sounded great that it was hard to decide.

We booked following the review on this website and coincidentally we were in a jewellers on Friday afternoon and the lady in there recommended this place as the number one place she likes to eat so i guess it was a good sign! Turns out my parents ate here too when they visited Chester. I imagine this place is great in the summer when you can sit outside by the river!!
