I had heard mixed reviews about this place but as there is a trend for american food on TV the idea of visiting has been nibbling away at me.
I planned a trip to chester which is appx 30-35 min drive from where we live, so it is not exactly on our doorstep. After a long day of shopping we found ourselves walking up for something to eat, only to be told that there was a 2 hour wait!!!!! never heard of that length of time before especially when looking in it didn't seem to be ram packed.
Thankfully enough the friendly waitress said that we could sit outside and get served almost straight away, so although it was around 7pm in november we decided to take a seat in the rather nice external seating area, there are plenty of outdoor heaters and the briskness of the weather was not an issue.
We (Mother, Girlfriend & I) looked at the menu, and ordered drinks. The menu is typical american steak house, we settled on a platter of meats and 3 separate meals, the nice waitress asked us if we were hungry as this was a lot of food, because we had never eaten there before we took her advice and dropped one of the meals.
When the platter arrived we could see what she meant, the portions were large and not what we more commonly encounter as a "sharing" or "taster" platter. The food itself was tasty and hot and cooked very well, we managed to get through it and were already on our way to being full before the mains came out.
I made a mistake of ordering a main that was basically included in the starter instead of something that wasn't included on the platter. But as all the food was nice we got through it, the accompanying fries and coleslaw were great and come in a "bucket" also we liked the large beer mugs.
We just about finished everything apart from a few slices of brisket which we wrapped up for the dog.
When we were outside we were also offered branded blankets if we were too cold but we were not.
The only issue really that bugged me slightly was that the bulbs on the large tree outside kept tripping the fuse and we would be left in partial darkness for short periods of time.
Next time we visit i will definitely be booking ahead to get inside and trying some of the other items on the menu.
