George & Dragon
Ranked #65 of 76 Chester B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 4, 2012

We stayed two nights at the George and dragon in Chester. This hotel is situated on the edge of town and has free parking. The room was ok and clean. Traffic noise was constant with very regular sirens from Police and Ambulance. We didn't have any noise from the bar. It appears that there is no breakfast cook employed. The first breakfast was good but the second morning the young boy who seemed to be the jack of all trades cooked. I think we were the recipients of the first eggs that he had ever cooked. They were nothing short of disgusting. For all that we enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and the evening meal was good.

Just back from 3 nights B. & B. at the George & Dragon. We were welcomed by a friendly, helpful young lady, who provided us with the essential info for our stay there. Our room, comprising of twin beds, was nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. It was not huge, but had ample space and storage for clothes etc. The en suite was very nice, modern and clean. Good shower and loads of hot water. Towels changed if required. We arrived later than planned due to traffic holdups, so decided for quickness to eat in. The food arrived quickly, was hot, well presented and very reasonably priced. The menu has something to suit everyone. There is a large Lounge which we found comfortable and friendly. It is true about traffic noise, given the location between two busy roads. However, it did quiet down after midnight, but we were awoken about 7.00 the following morning. Breakfast is from 7.00 till 9.00. The usual choices, fruit juice, cereals etc. Full English Breakfast was excellent and did us most of the day. We booked through LateRooms and were delighted with the George & Dragon. It was comfortable, clean and ideally situated for Chester's fantastic city centre. Our car was parked for the duration of our stay, in their free car park. The centre is 5-10 mins walk away. This was our first visit to Chester, we loved it and will be back. Probably will stay at the G. & D. too.

Paid £37 on late rooms like most the people staying here. Full price is £70. Other hotels of a better quality however for a last minute stay it was fantastic. Only a 10 minute max walk to chester. Free parking and a fantastic breakfast. We would recommend to others

George&Dragon is as said before in excellent place for visiting Chester. Nice and free car park. Big and popular pub downstairs. Room was ok and in good condition. Quite a bit traffic noise, since place is between two pretty busy roads. But - and that but is pretty big for us - it was Friday evening and noise from pub was awful. Ok, might not best idea to sleep in a pub if you want to sleep. Anyhow here is was impossible. So not our place. Never again.

just returned from the george and dragon, firstly we arrived 3 hours before check inn, this was not a problem and was given our room keys, the staff where freindly, when going up the stairs to the rooms , the walls have some damp patches on them, our room although smallish was very clean and the beds where very comfortable, there is some road noise at its on a busy junction , this gets better at night, breakfast was good, the location is great, free parking, and i paid 55 pound with booking .com, we would defo stay here again.

Room Tip: room 33 is a big room with flat screen tv and 2 singles made up like a king size bed.

We booked the George and Dragon for a night out in Chester. When we arrived we were ignored for 20minutes by staff who just blanked our presence however the young lad who showed us to our room was very friendly and polite. The first thing you notice when walking too the room is the shabby grubby walls. Our room was shabby and their were stains on the base of the bed. The bathroom was clean but shabby. The breakfast was nice and staff were friendly. When checking out we were told we had to pay £70 until I corrected the sraff member as we had boomed through late rooms how they can charge £70 is beyond me anyways. This hotel is acceptable for a night out if you are literally just there too sleep but to be honest for an extra £9 you can get a premier inn. My friends and I had booked a night in George and Dragon for summer we had booked 4 rooms we have now cancelled this booking I have been totally honest in this review it really needs improvement sorry!!!

Stayed for one night bed and breakfast on a Saturday and it only cost £50 for two people. Room was spacious and so was the bathroom. There was tea and coffee in the room.

The best thing is the location and the car parking. Car parking is free which is a big plus in Chester as you often pay £10 plus for overnight car parking. Chester centre is only a 10 min walk away and its just straight down one road. I can't comment on the breakfast as we didnt make it .

My only little complaint was the t.v wasnt working in the rooom. we reported in when we went out in the afternoon and when we arrived back in the evening it still wasnt fixed .By then it was too late to tell anyone.
