Having eaten at the Marco Pierre White at the Doubletree Bristol, and enjoyed it. We expected the same standard. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day, but the ribeye my husband ordered was so tough we sent it back. It was part of the £29 surf and turf option, so at that price we thought it should be perfect, it was ordered "rare", which it was, just very tough. The waiter first suggested was that my husband should try to cut the other side of the meat!! The squid was also chewy. The manager did replace the steak and two glasses of complimentary wine were given, but the waiter was not a happy person. I had the smoked haddock risotto, powdery rice and water at the bottom, but i couldn't face another confrontation. Also Mon- Thur residents should get a 10% discount - notices all over the hotel about this. It was not given, and when queried we were told by the same waiter we should have a voucher. This had not been given to us at check-in, as it supposedly should have been. Again the manager honoured the offer and we were given the 10%. But, you really do not need this hassle, it does not add up to a relaxing evening.
