“Stylish and Comfy”

Booked this hotel as it was on special offer, but after our two nights there we will definitely be back. All of the staff from the front desk, the housekeepers and the restaurant staff were polite and friendly, everyone was willing to help. We stayed in a "comfortable" room, and the bed was huge and really comfy! The bathroom was modern and clean, I agree with the comments about the shower door the floor got a little wet, but nothing to cause major issues. Our room had a view of the racecourse which was nice, and we liked the light bright floor to ceiling windows. It is ideally located to walk into Chester town centre where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and cultural things to see. We also visited Cheshire Oaks whilst we were there, also easy driving distance. We went to the Michael Caines restaurant there on our first night and the food was delicious, as were the cocktails in the champagne bar which were very reasonably priced! The food was slightly expensive and not a massive choice of menu but was a lovely meal so worth it. If you want to stay in Chester, I would definitely recommend ABode!

Room Tip: Opt for the "comfortable" room

We stopped here on Saturday 13th April with our two year old as my partner was on a hen night in Chester and I was having dinner with the groom, the hotel is central for shopping and adjacent to the racecourse. It is well appointed with front desk staff being attentive and interpersonal but not over bearing which we like. Service from them and all other staff is excellent and we couldn’t fault it at all. The rooms are nice as others have said, not the largest but certainly not the smallest, beds are vast and very comfortable, the fixtures and fittings were of high quality but in our room they must have been fitted on a Friday afternoon as the tap was loose and the tower holder was coming away from the wall. Bars wise, all in keeping with the a hotel of this status, definitely visit the champagne bar on the fifth floor. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel but breakfast was good and again staff were superb.
Would we return to the hotel, no doubt although the rates were verging on being a tad expensive, but there again this is most definitely NOT a budget hotel chain thus you get what you pay for.
Tip: If you’re driving to the hotel it’s an underground car-park, when you come off the roundabout turn left and then keep left stopping at the intercom, press the hotel reception and park in bays marked with a ‘H’ as the car-park is a mix used affair, hotel entrance is at the far side of the underground car-park, oh and they charge you ten pound to park too!!

Room Tip: High floors with higher room numbers tends to be away from the main road

stayed here for a short weekend and we were very impressed, the room wasn't the biggest but was very stylish and comfortable, we got the 2 day stay half price so we didn't mined paying for the parking, would definitely stay again and recommend

Stayed for two nights in early April, the room we had was classed as a 'comfortable' room. The room was very nice, clean and most certainly comfortable. The bathroom was of a good size and very modern. The only downside is that the shower was almost too modern, it had no door just a screen that covered just over half of the shower tray covering the floor with water when used. The walls were a little thin and we could hear a noisy child and tv in the adjacent room. Staff were professional and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. We went up the the champagne bar for a cocktail in the early evening, it was all very nice, but there are limited views over the racecourse which was a shame. The hotel is in an excellent location. We ate one night in the grill on the ground floor and the food and service was good.

Stayed 2 nights during the heavy snow falls for a pre-planned birthday treat with a meal in Michael Caine’s restaurant.
Great to have secure parking for £10 under the hotel (note entrance to the right not the left as you face /drive to it), also we were allowed to leave it there for the day after checking out. Easy check in and a £10 upgrade to a king size bed, decent size room but not a lot of storage space if you are staying for long; very secure as your key only accesses your floor.
Ate in the downstairs café/bar (also under Michael Caine’s name), which was a letdown for us and several other diners, slow service and food not hot; the chef didn’t seem interested in what he was doing and we got the wrong meal 3 times. Try the cocktail specials which are very good and at £9 for two not expensive, we had different ones each night. Good breakfast on 5th floor with either a hot cooked choice or continental (not both unless you pay extra for it), we alternated and both were good.
It was with trepidation that we went for our special dinner after the previous evening, but it was unfounded as we had an excellent, well cooked, presented and served meal; we had 3 each of the ‘grazing menu’ rather than the ‘tasting menu’ , same food but we got to choose, really very good and bordering on a star rating in our opinion, so highly recommended.
My wife used the beauty treatments, which were not good and just conducted by an outsourced service in one of the hotel rooms, not the experience she was looking for.
We will definitely be returning for another stay and a meal, but may avoid a weekend as the usual noise issues with city hotels and late night clubbers, very little consideration for fellow guests.

Room Tip: in summer get one overlooking the racecourse.

We stayed on the “indulgence package” which frankly I think was over priced. The room for it’s cost was large but lacked some of the luxury that you would expect from a 4 star hotel and it’s 4 star prices. The room was extremely hot, we turned the air conditioning down to it’s lowest but this just wasn't sufficient.
Bed was comfortable, good tea and coffee facilities.
I liked the fact that the room had a wooden floor apposed to carpet.
We did request a room with a bath, which we got so that was nice.
Our deal included a meal at the Michael Caines Resturant, which was lovely, only fault was how even though we had told our waitress that we were on the indulgence package we had to double check all the time what we were and were not allowed.
Breakfast was included in our rate and I was disappointed to find out that we could only have either the continental or cooked breakfast and if we wanted both a supplement was required. Shame as I really like some fresh fuit with my breakfast. You get more in a 3 start hotel. We only got 1 pot of tea and coffee and our orange juice was not topped up, although breakfast itself was lovely it was overall disappointing.
