The room were given was stuffy and hot. After 3 complaints to reception and being told they were full they finally relocated us into a better room. I got locked in the staff staircase and couldn't get out and had to press the panic button. Was told to go to te bottom of the stairwell which exited into reception. However I was very upset and shaken. Manager very sympathetic but we will not visit again. Could have down without this stress after 3.5hr drive.

I stayed in an "Enviable" room, which certainly lived up to its name.

Everything in this hotel oozes quality. I was expecting a high standard and they certainly delivered on that.

The bed was 6-feet wide and very comfortable. The room had a seating area with a selection of the latest magazines (GQ, Conde Nast Traveller and either Marie Claire or Cosmo, I've forgotten which). The room also had good lighting options for work or play as well as orange mood lighting.

To my surprise, not only was there tea/coffee, but also a small selection of water/soft drinks and snacks (crisps/chocolate) which was complimentary. Very nice!

Rather unusually, the luxurious double-ended bath and a very large sink were in the bedroom, separated from the bed by a half-height partition - might sound odd, but it's fun. There is also a separate bathroom containing another sink, shower and w/c - again, all top quality. There were two bathrobes and a large supply of towels and a good selection of toiletries.

The room is also well catered for in terms of media. There was free WiFi internet access, a large LCD TV and a Philips "soundbar" hi-fi system with iPod dock. I imagine you'd be able to keep several neighbours awake with it.

The hotel is ideally located for the race-goers and is just a 5-minute walk from The Rows in Chester city centre.

Breakfast was cooked to order and was excellent.

Positives:
The restaurant on the 5th floor of this hotel is probably its best feature. The food was stunning and very good value for money. The room itself was modern, large and comfortable. Nice sleek bathroom with huge shower.

Negatives:
Service in both bars ranged from non-existent (downstairs) to agonisingly slow (upstairs). Drinks very expensive for the location. Lots of staff in the general bar/restaurant area but most just wandering about aimlessly or talking forever on the phone.

Chester is a small town that you can walk through and see in less than 2 hours and there is nothing really to warrant a repeat visit, so sadly no return to visit to this hotel although others in the chain may be worth investigating based on this one. The restaurant is what sells this hotel!

Stayed over recently whilst work being completed on my house. Great hotel, excellent throughout, and the hospitality experienced by all staff members here is commendable to the management.

The hotel is only a 5 min walk into the heart of Chester and has its own parking at 10 pounds a night. It's quite a stylish hotel so very minimal. Rooms were a good size, clean, only thing that let it down was the air con it was not working so it was quite cold on arrival. We did ring down twice to reception and they were not really very helpfull. If it had been any colder we would have asked to change rooms however I would of expected them to offer this on the second call.

Beds are extremely soft so probably won't be to some people's comfort. Bathroom was very clean and had a large walk in shower.

There is a champagne bar which was nice to have per dinner drinks before heading into Chester for food. It is expensive as you would expect and they also include a 12.5 service charge however we were happy to pay, but you don't have to if you don't want to. A lot of people also were going through to Michael Caines restaurant however we choose to sample Chester's food.

Michael Caines breakfast was very good, however there are also a lot of other cafes open if you want something a bit cheaper.

We stayed for two nights at the Abode, in an "Enviable" room which was very comfortable for two adults and a four year old. The room was stylishly modern and very comfortable; although it was a little odd having no doors on the bathroom we were so happy with everything else that we ended up not minding that much. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious (included in the rate) and the location is great. The top floor restaurant has amazing food and special prices for hotel guests. We would happily stay again any time.
