“Lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

Attended a function in the conservatory, all went beautifully. Staff unobtrusive and efficient, food was good and the setting was very pretty. It did keep getting a little hot, and when the huge door was opened far too cold and windy, so they could do with a way to ventilate without opening the doors.
Would definitely go back and recommend.

“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Visited here on a Saturday evening after coming out of Chester. There was a small wedding party going on but we had no trouble either finding a seat or ordering a meal. My husband had a salad and I had a pizza, both were excellent. Staff very good and would definitely go back. Prices slightly on the higher side.

“Definitely NOT pub of the year!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

How this received pub of the year 2013-14 is beyond me. I had a tandoori prawn salad which consisted of five luke warm prawns for £12.95 which obviously did not endear me to the pub, however the standard of staff was the most disappointing element of this visit. The majority of waitresses had absolutely filthy aprons, with an overall look that was extremely scruffy, which did not reflect the high standards the marketing is trying to convey. The puddings were also of a very low standard, with the sticky toffee pudding and bake well tart being clearly microwaved and overdone. The bake well tart was burnt which was pointed out by ourselves to the waitress, only to receive a half hearted apology and no offer of a refund or any token gestures. The lovely location deserves a higher standard of pub, and I cannot understand how the manager of this establishment does not see and rectify these massive flaws. The judges of awards must have caught them on a good day,as this establishment needs some serious intervention to be considered for any kind of accolade.

“Quality without Variety”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2014

This is the second time I've visited the Ring O'Bells since the restaurant has been extended and once again the food quality was great. The new glazed 'conservatory' area blends in well with the more traditional pub side seating to create a nice atmosphere throughout the entire pub. Homemade soup for starter was excellent followed by a really good fish & chips - freshly battered fish was superb. Good choice of wines and real ales offered. My only minor criticism is the lack of variety offered by the menu. The list of main courses includes the usual burgers, pizza, pasta, fish & chips, steaks, etc - all probably delicious, but there doesn't appear to be a specials board or anything that grabs your culinary attention.
