“Excellent choice in Chester”
Reviewed February 5, 2014 via mobile

We dined here in early December as part of an anniversary trip to lovely Chester and loved it! Great ambience, great staff and service but most of all the food made it worthwhile...don't go anywhere else!

“One of the best.”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

Had a lovely family dinner the food and service were excellent and the guinea fowl was superb. Prices are competitive and the atmosphere is welcoming. Definitely worth a visit when in Chester.

“A really good restaurant”
Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

We booked this restaurant from the recommendations on Tripadvisor and found it to every bit as good as we expected and better. Friendly, well trained and informed staff, a lovely ambience, and excellent food from a limited but very varied menu. If you like good food, well presented and extremely tasty, but dislike the pretence and formality of Fine Dining, this place will please. The choice of wines was equally good and all at a fair price. What's not to like!

“Very good”
Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

We finally visited Joseph Benjamin and are glad we did. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was very good. The vegetarian curry was superb and other half loved his salad. The atmosphere was a bit dull but maybe if we go back when it is busy that will change.

“What an excellent little restaurant!”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Tired of chain restaurants? Prefer something with a little more character and individuality serving excellently prepared food in a tasteful, quiet restaurant by smiling, friendly, efficient staff who know how to do it well?

Prefer not to have to pay London prices?

Near Chester?

The Joseph Benjamin ticks each and every box above.

We booked early (7 on a Thursday) and although it was quiet when we sat down, by the time we left most tables were taken.

My cauliflower, sweet potato and lentil curry with aubergine bhaji was superb. Delicate flavours blended artfully and the vegetables cooked to perfection.
My wife's burger with cheese and chips may not sound a likely menu item from a good restaurant - but it was also superb.

I just wish we'd had room for a pudding - all of which were mighty tempting.

It may not be the cheapest restaurant you'll ever eat in, but it must be very close to giving the very best value for money.

Thoroughly, thoroughly recommended.
