“fab place to stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2011

we have just had 1nights stay at the coach house and have to say a huge THANK YOU, ...to all the staff, everyone that we came into contact with were very plesent,.the bedrooms were large, clean and warm as it was so cold outside...and what an amazing spot to be in, right in the center of chester, while we were there there was the Christmas market just outside the hotel....lovley to look round, we had lunch when we arrived , only hot/cold sandwiches very yummy, we did not eat there at night but we all had breakfast again all fresh cooked and well presented, and we liked the extra touch of free tea/coffee while staying, any one thinking of staying overnight or longer you wont get better than THE COACH HOUSE. we will be back and thank you.One thing i will say and this is NO fault of the hotel room 6 as it is at the front of hotel is noisy, but is was a saturday night in December as lots of party people about.( but dont be put of with that...)

Room Tip: Room 6, quite noisy as it is at the front of hotel, but lovley huge room and it did have double glaz...

We arrived at the Coach House quite by chance. Stopped at the Travelodge to check them out, no parking other than a ramp and you have to be there at 7:00 a.m. to feed the meter. NO WAY! Found a city directory of things and places to see in Chester in the lobby and found an ad for the Coach House. Drove there. We were greeted by Patrizia who showed my wife the rooms. She was so helpful, a credit to the Coach House. Our room was very comfortable, modern, and clean. All amenities were very up to date. Totally satisfied! Good in-room wireless! When we asked for ice at other locations for cooling down a couple of brews, and a couple cubes for a cocktail, we were given a pint glass. The Coach House gave us a large metal ice bucket. To a US traveler ice is more than a couple of cubes. Great breakfast and Janet was so nice to talk to and couldn't have taken better care of us. We stayed 2 nights and were very happy. Patrizia, who would not be working the day we left, made sure we had what we needed before she left work. Again, a credit to Coach House!

Location, very good. We were just outside of the Chester Cathedral entrance, Chester Market entrance, and the visitor info lobby. The Cathedral was very nice, good history, and nice story about Handel practicing the "Messiah" before its debut in Dublin. The market is a fun place. So many things for sale; clothes, meat at the butcher shops, fish shops, historical memorabilia, artist prints, and on and on.

Inside the city center walls there are many shops. So many centuries old buildings; pubs, shops, b&b's, etc., and all used today like they have always been used. Very picturesque! A photographer's delight.

Parking would be my only negative for the Coach House, but again, Patrizia tried to mitigate that problem. She offered her parking spot to us for 1/2 the cost of the public ramp. I'm sure she would have had to pay what we saved if we had accepted. Anyway, the parking ramp, 1/2 block away, unlike the one by the Travelodge, issues a ticket and charges when you leave. Approx. 10 pounds a day. We parked and let the car sit 2 days. Know that a US charge card will not work in the ramp as we don't have a chip in our charge cards like they do in the UK. We have to swipe and the ramp is not able to handle that. So, having only a $50 pound note on me, which the machine won't take, I had to go to the office and talk to one of the parking lot people (very close by). Aside from hearing that they wish that they had the problem of only having a 50 in their pocket, they were so great in knowing we dumped a bunch of cash in their town and let us out gratis. The 50's came from the bank here in the US and are not widely used there.

The people in the UK are so friendly, and I mean everywhere, it makes me want to go back tomorrow. Just don't act like the attitude Chicago traveler, it's another country so chill.

Chester and the Coach house is a great place to spend a couple of days.

Spent 2 nights in Chester
Chose hotel for it's location and stylish rooms.
The room was lovely and spacious
Bed huge
24 hour free room service for hot drinks
Staff proffesional and friendly.
Only thing that let it down was the hallway to the rooms.
Smelt dirty like wet dogs
Would stay again but at £89 per night maybe a bit over priced

Fantastic hotel, great location. The superior room has got secondary glazing and is not noisy(we were there on a Saturday evening on bonfire night) . Staff were very friendly and breakfast was delicious (maybe a bit small). I'd definitely go and stay again.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel which was centrally located to enable you to enjoy Chester, The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and clean, The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food which was locally sourced was a delight. Would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel do pick up some outside noise late at night

Stayed here for one night . Fantastic location in the heart of Chester city centre. We've stayed at accomodation in the City Road area before and although it was a good location and only 5-10 minutes away from the centre the location of The Coach house is better.Great for easy access to shops , bars and restaurants . Being able to use the Market Car Park ( FREE AFTER 3P.M until 7A.M) at the back of the hotel is ideal and the charges after the free parking period are quite reasonable, £3.60 for up to 2 hours,£4.70 for up to 4hours.
The hotel rooms were quite spacious with modern decoration and bedding, flat screen wall mounted T.V and a nice clean and mondern on-suite area. The staff were very freindly and although we didn't eat an evening meal at the hotel the menu looked good and fairly priced.
The breakfast was very good with a selection of vegetarian options to chose from alongside the traditionional fayre of full english ,kippers etc.
We look forward to returning nearer christmas as we were informed there is a number of special offers to be had at the hotel( check out their website for more info).
