This was a great find thanks to trip advisor. Had sausage and mash, good honest home cooking. Really pleasant lunch in a very special building full of character.

“Food not quite as good as described on menu”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

Having eaten twice at Brewery Tap in the past 12 months I would say that it is disappointing that main courses have no vegetables. When you consider that most pubs selling £5 mains throw in some peas and or carrots, I was disappointed to be served venison pie a dish with 4 chips. The pie itself was watery and at £11 hardly value for
money. My son had battered fish similarly priced but again lacking in veg.I would say a great place for the real ale enthusiast but frankly slightly overpriced for food.

“Great ales”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

Well worth a visit when you are in Chester. Their range of real ales is excellent and very well kept. The pub is a single high roofed room with a separate extra eating area.

“Good old fashioned English Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2013

Had a really good pork terrine followed by boiled tongue on mash, perfect!!
The beers were good and although quiet on a Monday night there were enough customers to provide a background hum. No tvs or music added to the atmosphere. Plus the bill at the end was less than I expected!!

“Great Place to chill out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

This place is just what you need after a long day. Its so calm chilled out and really takes you back to the days of real pubs before iphones, jukeboxes and noise. The real ales are a must, some great names to raise an eyebrow to, but the taste takes the stress away. The food is good as well, real old english pub grub, pie and mash, etc.
