“Good Value!”
Reviewed November 11, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for two nights, nice central location for the station and shops. Check in was a bit chaotic, our room wasn't ready and were told it would be 10 minutes, half an hour later we were still waiting... When we eventually got into the room, the previous occupants towels were still in the bathroom, however this was quickly sorted. The room was at the back of the hotel and was nice and quiet, although a bit in the dark side due to the window facing a wall!
Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Would stay here again.

After just returning from a 3 day break to chester we stayed at this premier inn. The hotel was in an excellent position, very close to station and city centre. local bars and restaurants very close and everything is within walking distance. the hotel room was very good just a few minor things ie light bulb replacing and small things but they are just about to decorate so all things will be sorted over the next month or so. We would definitely recommend, lovely breakfast and all staff were very good breakfast staff exceptional, we will be going back.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay on a shopping city break to this hotel. We did some research prior to booking and knew that the parking was limited and thought our chances of getting a space were very slim. With this in mind, we just parked at the train station for £5.70 a day and this did not really inconvenience us in any way as it is only approx 7 mins walk from the hotel. I don't think there is any point in moaning about the parking situation as guests should be aware of this when booking.
Our second floor room was spacious and the bathroom was cleaned to a high standard. Coffee/tea making facilities and hair dryer were provided. We were overlooking the car park so didn't experience any outdoor noise. The only noise we heard was from other inconsiderate guests of the younger generation in the early hrs, up and down the corridors. We did have a interconnecting door in our room which meant you could hear next door guests more than usual but overall we were very pleased with our room.
The staff were very polite and friendly. We didn't have breakfast or evening meal in the hotel as we prefer to eat out.
This hotel is ideally located for the train station and shops. We visited the Cheshire oaks designer outlet and the zoo whilst we were there and all are within a 4 mile radius of each other.
We would definitely stay here again if we visit Chester in the future.

Stayed here on the 4th of Nov for my daughters graduation.

conveniently located by the train station and just a short walk to the main center.

Inadequate parking which is not given out fairly, either provide car-park for all guests or none!
Luckily i managed to park on the road out the front which is a 1 hour stay before 6pm, i arrived at 5pm so luckily i could leave car on the road until 8am, these spaces are used up quickly too, not sure what i would of done with my car otherwise.

Check in was swift and reception team were very freindly.

Rooms were smaller than any other premier inn ive been to, we had 2 rooms both on ground floor, both small but very clean and provided everything i required like tea/coffee facilities, TV, towels, hairdryer, shower but no bath.

I booked a double but was disappointed with the 2 beds pushed together as it made it a little uncomfortable. Lovely comfy pillows and warm duvet. My window was sealed shut (apparently all are on ground floor)! I did not like this at all it made me feel like i was closed in, i like the feel of fresh air and if there is a fire there is no quick escape- this really concerns me.

Unfortunately Premier inn has a problem with the doors! My room number 18- All night all i could hear was doors banging and people walking around the corridors (creaking floorboards) and the floor above, then at 4am the street cleaner was up and down the road outside my window! Other members of my party had a worse night as they stayed in room 1, this room is right at the beginning of the corridor so everyone has to go past it to get to other rooms plus it overlooks the small car-park which is very lit-up and noisy as cars come and go.

So no restful night sleep for us! We did claim back 1 room cost as Premier inn has a restful night guarantee- they must have to do plenty of refunds!

We did not eat at the restaurant but it did look very nice.

All staff were friendly, professional and polite, big Thanks to Jeana who handled my complained efficiently and speedily, very good member of staff i hope Whit-bred look after you
:-)

In conclusion, for people who do not mind noise, do not have a car and want to be close to the city center this hotel will be fine for you.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms off the ground floor.

The hotel was very conveniently situated for all the attractions of Chester city centre and the canal area with its interesting pubs and restaurants. The (chargeable) secure car park was inadequate for the number of guests and was full when we arrived. As a blue badge holder I was able to park on the double yellow lines outside but I would have preferred secure parking.
We booked a twin room as we find the double beds uncomfortable for double occupancy. We were disappointed to be given a room on the ground floor as this meant we were unable to open a window or even to open the curtains when it was daylight as we did not want passers by looking in. As a married couple we were happy with the beds being pushed up to each other but neither of us would have been happy if sharing the room with a friend. The room was clean and comfortable although small, and had all we needed - TV, desk, wardrobe, tea making, hair dryer, etc.
I appreciate that this is a budget hotel but this Premier Inn was not quite up to the standard of other Premier Inns we have stayed in. The room was very small and the bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. The gunk around the edge of the shower tray may be a pretty pink colour but it is actually a harmful bacteria.
Breakfast - at extra cost was served buffet style and was excellent. The food was served piping hot and freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We would be happy to stay here again but would request a room an a higher floor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor.

This was my second stay in the hotel and it was even better than the first time. We travelled over from Ireland for a wedding which started at 2pm. This meant we were on a very tight timescale but the staff were more than helpful getting us an early check in, parking in the hotel carpark (good value at £6) and a taxi to the wedding. We had a very pleasent nights sleep and went for breakfast at 11am the next morning. We got seated straight away and there was plenty of choice. The hotel iteslf is in a good location, is modern and has all the facilties you need but the best thing about the Premier Inn, City Road, Chester is the staff.

Room Tip: If you have any queries at all then ask the staff for help
