I have had reason to stay here on business twice in the last two weeks and as ever it does what it says on the tin. The room I had for the first stay had a pleasant walk in shower instead of a bath, which was better than the usual bath/shower. As ever the rooms were bright and acceptable and all staff members friendly and helpful. Simon on reception welcomed me back by name before I had checked in on my second visit, which was very welcoming. My room for the first week was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet, the room this week was at the front of the hotel facing the road, however noise from outside was not a problem as the room seemed well soundproofed. The air con/heating unit was very good and certainly kept the temperature of the room down to a nice cool level this week.
The only thing that was badly designed in this particular Premier was that the kettle and tea/coffee making facilities were placed where the illuminated mirror and hairdryer is. The mirror gets misted up from the kettle and there is no room to put anything that you may want to use by the decent lighted mirror, but the other side of the unit was completely empty. Other Premiers that I have recently visited have the tea/coffee etc on the opposite side to the mirror, which makes far more sense.
The restaurant on site is quite acceptable, bright and airy. The only downside is it would be nice if the restaurant did “lite bites” for example jacket potatoes, or maybe another couple of dishes with potatoes and vegetables instead of what seemed to be chips with most things. Although the food is fine, it is “pub grub”, which for an evening or so is fine but for 5 nights over the last two weeks I fancied a change, without having to go out of the hotel though. I did have a pizza and be warned it is far more than one person can eat on their own.
It was not an issue as the restaurant was not busy, but for some reason my answer to the automatic text received from the Premier to book my table for dinner for my first nights stay each time was not then forwarded to the restaurant. This could have been an issue if the restaurant had been full though, but only a minor hiccup.
As ever you always know what to expect at a Premier, and I have no hesitation in recommending this one.
