It should be perfect as the location is superb but theres something not quite right. The food is on the expensive side but not quite up to the standard expected. Theres nothing wrong with the food but it doesn't have the wow factor.
We dined with friends. It was busy when we arrived and we weren't greeted immediately instead standing awkwardly for a couple of minutes before someone came over and took us to our table. The menu is fairly limited made worse by the fact that one of the dishes we wanted was off. This shouldn't happen on a Saturday night at 8pm.
our waiter was a bit of a cliche man giving the impression he said the same things to every table every night which became mildly annoying as the evening wore on.
This is our second visit and probably our last. Shame as it is a cracking location but not quite achieving their potential.

Superb views along the dee and in a stunning building!

Food was good however we only sampled the lunch menu. The main menu looked really good and from what other people seemed to be having looked tasty. Will definitely be going back and eating off the main menu.
One thing that let the place down was the cleanliness of the toilets however it was a bank holiday and a few kids around the place.

Eaten here mostly for lunch and did a pre-race champagne, meal and boat trip down the river at a Chester race event which made the day. Service is excellent and food very good. Rockafella salad and a side of chunky chips! Desserts are lovely also. The location is what makes this place special - on the banks of the dee, and on a sunny day sitting outside is like being abroad. Haven't visited this restaurant of an evening yet but would definitely give it a try.

We recently dined at The Red House with a group of friends and had a great time. As we don’t often get the chance to catch up together we wanted to make sure we had a special meal in great surroundings – we were not disappointed!

The food was delicious and skilfully prepared with everyone enjoying their choices. Myself, I had the scallops (which were cooked to perfection) followed the game pudding (tasty!) and the cheese board (good selection with great accompaniments – banana cake and soused celery!). On top of this we were all well looked after by friendly and attentive staff and further spoilt with the amazing view out across the river Dee and beyond!

We’ll all be back again - very soon!

I took my elderly mother and my daughter for Sunday lunch although it is a lovely setting even in the winter , the food was very disappointing and even my elderly mother said there was not much on the plate for a Sunday dinner and it was not very hot 2 slices of carrot a small portion of cauliflower and 2slices of courgette hardly constitutes a good Sunday roast. We did mention it to the taff but they just said 'oh sorry'
