Description: The Bear & Billet is a terrific 3 storey pub located inside the walled city of Chester which was owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury & built in 1664. The Bear & Billet offers a great friendly place to enjoy food and drink. We have a wide selection of cask ales and well as draught and bottled beers from around the world. We have a full homecooked food menu available everyday day with Sunday lunch available every Sunday from 12pm-7pm. Not only that we have function rooms available for hire as well as live sport shown throughout the year with 5 flat screen TV's available on 3 floors.

Well worth a visit. A real olde world pub. Very friendly with an open log fire. The real ales are excellent.

My wife and a friend went here on the 20th November for lunch, we have been several times before and have found a lovely cosy pub with great food, we had the Shepherds Pie served with Beetroot large portion excellent!
We will continue to go there, it's a bit hidden away and a nice secret, as most people stay in the centre and don't take the 10 min walk to this lovely pub.

They've got real ale and a nice option for an ale sampler paddle. The bartender is friendly and their food (been there for lunch only) was good. Nice atmosphere!

Visited Chester for Hallowe'en and chose this place to eat as it was nearest to our hotel and also because it had stuff on the menu for a fussy teenager! The staff were lovely and the pub itself very, very cosy. Our main meals were great (and on a Thursday night - there is a good selection menu you can choose from and have a free drink - which is quite a bargain.) The only let-down however was when we chose jam roly-poly and custard for dessert - it was actually swiss-roll not roly-poly. I'd still recommend the Bear & Billet though - and certainly eat there again - but I think I'd try the sticky-toffee pudding next.
