“Train travelers looking for somewhere to leave their lugguage”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

I didn't stay at the hotel, but made use of the luggage minding service as Chester Station does not store luggage. You can leave a suitcase/pack at Lloyds for 5pounds a day. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the station, so it's very convenient. Friendly service.

Also, there are lots of places to eat along Brook St, whilst not the same views as in town or by the river, the prices are cheaper, and again, close to the station if you're waiting for a train.

Room Tip: I didn't stay at the hotel.

The pictures on site must have been taken a while ago as now it looks really tatty, the room was way to warm there was a fan which we put on but couldnt leave window open when we were'nt there as we had a fire escape right outside the window also the bathroom was comical so small if you bent down you hit your head and the extractor fan was laughable it was useless. The towels were not changed and were still damp the next day when we showered

Room Tip: dont bother

Beware when booking at this hotel. We booked on 6th may for 2 nights 1st and 2nd august. On 8th july the hotel decide to call and cancel our booking as they do not take amex which we used to book with. The hotel is now fully booked leaving us to search for alternative accommodation with only 3weeks to go, along with other people in our party who we were travelling with. When I explained this the assistant manager told me to go find somewhere else to stay and put the phone down. I have NEVER had such bad manners/customer service in all the hotels I have ever stayed in. They do not deserve the business.

Room Tip: Dont bother giving them your custom

We stayed at lloyds of Chester for a friend's stag weekend and it was perfectly sufficient. It's no 5* but it doesn't cost the earth and the rooms are clean and staff are polite. It's also a 5 minute walk from the centre of Chester which is a big bonus!

We stayed as 2 couples. Just wanted somewhere cheap to stay after a day/night out in Chester. Reception was friendly. Showed us to our rooms.
Clean and tidy shower room very small. We were in a room at back of hotel. Was noisy.
Breakfast was a nightmare a young girl took our order 3 times and 3 times it came out wrong. Manage dragged her back to our table In front of everyone to find out correct order before shouting at her. Wasn't the girls fault she had very little English.
For a cheap room we would stay again.

We arrived at this hotel expecting it to be like its website pictures. Boy were we wrong!!!

Where do you start. Light fitting hanging off the wall, dirty bed sheets with hairs and other things all over them. Outside our room was a massive hole in the wall. Our friends room door wouldn't close and lock, very dangerous when the front door was wide open and their room was right next to it. It looked like someone had smashed through it at some point.

The bathrooms were in very poor condition, as others have described they look straight out of a 1960's caravan. One of our party was unable to get through the door of it and a few were unable to fit in the shower cubicle. in 2 of the bathrooms we had the 'pleasure' of inspecting the loo brushes were covered in excrement and dirty toilet roll. Light fitting were in such poor condition we didn't dare to touch them.

Tea and coffee facilities were covered in grime and stale milk stains.

There were random electric wires hanging out of the walls and the only power source was a very aged extension lead that actually came out of the plaster work rather then a plug socket.

The carpet was pieced together from off cuts.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.

We were so disgusted we contacted the agent who had booked this as part of our package weekend to basically be told 'tough'.

For a 3 star hotel you expect cleanliness and a safe room without the frills, this hotel had neither.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else, even a park bench would be safer
