Went to Alexander's last night through a Groupon deal. Had a beautiful Moroccan tagine meal with sangria - food and drinks were both great. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Saw 3 comedians, first 2 were excellent. Think the 3rd one hadn't turned up so the compere improvised a bit. Overall a great night - would definately go back

Last sunday I took my parents to Alexanders for their 40th wedding annerversiry, and it was fab there is always some kind of music on on a sunday and last week it was Roy potts and 5 and a penny band. The atmosphere was chilled and welcomming with an easy going vibe which my parents loved. We ordered a selection of tapas that was served throughout our afternoon which was perfect as it gave us time to sit and relax and enjoy the music. As well as a great selection of tapas there was a good selection of beers that my dad n brother enjoyed wilst my mum and I had a lovely bottle of chardonnay (or two) The staff were polite and attentive making sure we wanted for nothing at any point. My parents are returning with their friend's and I know I will be returning sooner rather than later to make use of the beer garden wilst the weather is still nice. So thanks to the staff for making it a fab day for us.

Nightly entertainment, reasonable prices, tasty food, great beer and wonderful staff-definitely recommend visiting this place at least once-you'll definitely want to go again..great for a relaxing afternoon coffee and a snack after a stroll along the city walls...I no longer consider a visit to Chester complete without popping into Alexander's!

We bought tickets that at the time thought was good value for a meal & show. When we got there we realised that the meal was a set menu of one starter, one main and one desert, so if you didn't like it, it was tough. When the meal arrived the portions were very small but at least it tasted ok. Once we'd eaten we were looking forward to the 3 comedy acts on the bill. All 3 acts struggled to get laughs from the audience but would of helped if their material was actually funny. Really disappointing.
It wasn't long before we realised why the tickets seamed such good value. Obviously a ploy to get you through the door so they could rip you off at the bar. Two beers & two fruit ciders nearly £18. I wouldn't mind paying top wack if the place deserved it. The interior is shabby, like sitting in a cheap cafe and the toilets were disgusting.
After visiting the Slaughter house in Liverpool last year for a similar meal and comedy evening Alexanders was a very poor imitation.
Would not recommend and will not return.

If you love frothy beers with a huge head, you will love this place, has a stage for comedians and a very nice beer garden, although have to admit succumbed to going to the pied bull for some better tasting beer :)
