I have been holidaying in Sark over the past 40 years. Sark is a very beautiful location, with opportunities for a gently restful break, delightful walks and breathtaking views, or an adventurous one with the many caves and climbs available. Ensure you obtain a tide timetable and your explorations of stunning beaches and safe swimming will never cease to be joyful.

Having stayed in various locations over the years, my family has settled on staying at La Sablonnerie because it is so exceptional and it is sheer joy to return to whenever possible. Elizabeth Perree runs the hotel, and with Elizabeth, along with her family, you are assured of a generous and delightful welcome. The personal touches excel, with curtains drawn, beds turned down and lamps on whilst you dine, for example- or the tray of tea/coffee in your room before breakfast with home made biscuits, their own Sark milk and a fresh flower. At every turn you are treated with such courtesy by all the staff as well as by the family. Everywhere is immaculate.
The food is quite exceptional. My husband travels across the world and we eat out regularly with a very varied cuisine, but genuinely we find La Sablonnerie remains the best cuisine and wholesome food to rival anywhere.

Elizabeth prides herself in choosing beds for her guests most carefully, and although I am a poor sleeper generally, I sleep well there. At every turn you can see such careful attention to detail.

I have no interest in fitness centres and spas, but love the simple pleasures of walking, cycling and horse riding. I am not a strong swimmer but have had some of the loveliest and safe bathing off Sark beaches of anywhere. However busy the island, at whatever peake times in the season, it is easy to find quiet spots for swimming, walking, bird watching, reading or just sitting without being disturbed by another soul.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. It is so individual, pretty, romantic and personal, and the very antithesis of corporate faceless hotels which are so easy to find. It is fun too. There is nowhere to compare. The very best hotel on the most beautiful unspoilt island one could wish for.

Room Tip: Ring and speak to Elizabeth Perree who will be able to describe different rooms - they are very vari...

We had lunch there today and wished that we could have stayed overnight.
The place oozed old fashioned charm. It had a country, rustic look and great service from all the staff and the friendly owner.
The food was served as it should be, hot, well presented and just the right portions.
We had the spinach and parsnip soup and quail which were very tasty.
The little touches like the amuse bouche and taste of slow gin and chocolate at the end help make it special.

We went walking in Sark and decided to head south to Little Sark. Our tourist map indicated this establishment and we thought we could get some lunch there so set off on our walk around the island. Half way there, and It being Sark, the heavens opened and even though we were wearing rain wear,we got drenched. My wife's trousers were practically transparent they were so wet. We approached the exterior of La Sablonnerie- it looks a bit like a white brick cow shed from the road and our hearts sank a bit, but we were too wet to quibble, so we followed the entrance path around the corner. We found ourselves in a charming little garden with a small doorway to the 'cowshed' where we found the patronne. She welcomed us in out of the pouring rain, and we stepped into the bar. After our soaking, it was quite surreal, The bar was small an charming. In one area a group of girls were drinking champagne while in another there was a family similarly consulting some menus. A roaring fire blazed in a large fireplace, around which a few children were drying out, clearly also having been caught in the rain. The welcome of the patronne was exceptional and owing to a few cancellations, she had some space in the restaurant. After a small delay, while she gave my wife a large bath towel to 'change into' while her trousers could be put in the tumble dryer, we were ushered into the dining room where we ate a delicious lunch of fresh Sark lobster.

A truly memorable lunch, fantastic service and definitely somewhere you'd go back to again.

I have stayed at this very special hotel with my late husband numerous times during the past 29 years, but this was my first solo stay and I have just enjoyed six relaxed and memorable days of being looked after with care and almost treated like royalty! La Sablonnerie has a unique charm and for me it just gets better and better. The hallmark of this long established and well-run hotel is its quiet, relaxed atmosphere where guests are welcomed enthusiastically and hospitably by the owner, Elizabeth. Many of the rooms have been refurbished to a high standard and every care is taken both by Elizabeth and her staff to ensure that guests are comfortable. Every effort is taken to ensure satisfaction. For sentimental reasons I had requested and was given Room 10, which is pleasantly decorated chalet with an en suite bathroom, a very comfortable bed with warm blankets and the luxury of having early morning tea brought complete with delicious home-made biscuits. The food is excellent and plentiful. The menu is changed daily using wonderfully fresh ingredients and the wine selection is equally good. The hotel is spotlessly clean with smartly turned out staff, who are both gracious and efficient, ensuring that guests always have a continuous supply of sparkling white towels and offering the old-fashioned courtesy of beds being turned down each evening. The staff are welcoming without being overwhelming and Kim and Nigel make a good humoured team overseeing things, particularly in the bar, and taking obvious delight in ensuring that everything runs smoothly so that guests have a good time. For me there is nowhere quite like it and I would never want to stay anywhere else on Sark. Indeed, I look forward to my next visit. I treasure the chance to take life at a slower pace and having no TV or telephone in room is a bonus. The beautifully tended garden, filled with a mass of colourful flowers, has comfortable benches where guests can sit, unwind and watch the world go by at a slow pace whilst listening to the birdsong. On sunny days guests can also sit outside and enjoy a delicious lunch at beautifully set tables with white starched napery but if something a little lighter is required it is only a short walk across to the Tea Garden where quality also abounds. If you cherish peace and quiet, together with excellent food and wine in comfortable surroundings, situated in a place of incomparable beauty, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

After a lovely cycle ride, the hotel was even more lovely than we expected. The welcome and service were the best imaginable and the lobster Thermidor about the best we have ever eaten. This is a great place and guests will not be disappointed. Keith and Margie

Well, it can't be described in mere words but I will try. Its like a charming country pub, and it resembles a gorgeous eclectically furnished hotel, it is a welcoming cosy homelike dwelling, and a timeless charming place to be. We happened upon it by chance as we tried to book in to Stocks for the week. Stocks had a wedding at the weekend so could not accommodate us, and we opted to stay at La Sabionnerie for the last three days of our holiday. We are SO glad we did. It knocks spots off Stocks. Mainly because of its complete quaintness and charm. All the staff were lovely, we particularly liked Jeeves (not his real name) who was the most charming front of house, with a great facility for making you feel at home. Also you cannot fail to mention Elizabeth who runs the hotel, seemingly effortlessly, she has an endless amount to time to devote to her guests, and it is clear that their needs come first and she charmingly arranges everything for your complete relaxation and enjoyment of her establishment and this beautiful area of little Sark. Carriage rides can be arranged to go round the island, and we did this and thoroughly enjoyed being pulled along by Paddy the irish horse at a pace as slow as our walking, so it was a great way to spend 2 hours, and find out about the island's history, politics and places of interest. I would recommend booking this, as we didn't, but of course heaven and earth was moved to put us on one of the existing bookings so that we didn't miss out. The hotel has a tea garden with beautiful home made scones, butter made by Elizabeths 86 year old Mum, and the Island clotted cream is an absolute must if you stay here. The tea garden and gardens round the hotel are beautiful and you can eat your lunch with only the sound of birds and other diners to disturb the peace. We had a crab salad one lunch time, it was a perfect balance of fresh crab and beautiful salad leaves which had clearly been picked only hours before. The restaurant is low beamed and thoughtfully decorated and the napery was the most starched I have ever encountered. The food was of excellent quality, fresh and well cooked and the menu was very varied so that we had a different choice each evening we were there. The service as very slick and the wine list was of a length and breadth to please anyone, with some reasonably priced wines and half bottles. The beds were comfortable and the pillows squishy. There was plenty of hot water and wet clothes were whisked away to be dried off when we got wet out walking the lovely footpaths in this more peaceful part of Sark. If you are looking for televisions, telephones or wifi, then this is not the place for you to stay, but if you want peace, pampering, and perfection, do not look at anywhere else in the world.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room over the bar (no 9). The bar was never noisy and we slept well. It has lovel...

After a wonderful bicycle round the island we arrived at La Sablonnerie, at the far end of the Little Sark Island, to be greeted by attentive staff, and a choice of accommodation - in the main hotel or in Le Pips. We chose the latter, and were absolutely delighted with the ambiance, the huge double beds, beautiful linen etc. Clean, period-decorated, the house is adjacent to the bar/cafe, set in beautiful gardens. After a challenging walk back from the silver mine it was time for drinks in the garden - masses of bird life, beautifully manicured gardens. While there is only one bathroom to service four main bedroom, several had their own wash basins, and it was no issue really. The evening meal - was stunning. The menu was mouth-watering - I chose the leek and celery soup, which was to die for; the beef unbelievably tender and flavoursome; the selection of cheeses awesome. And each of the dishes our family chose were excellent, including the sea bass main. With Elizabeth (the rather eccentric Proprietor) and her brother Philip providing much entertaining commentary about all sorts of things, the experience was enriching. I will be returning, no doubt at all - probably for 2-3 days total R&R.

Room Tip: Choose Le Pips, if you can - sleeps up to ten. N.B. Ignore the 'Terrible' swimming pool - ha...
