“What is the difference between 4 star and 5 star? Braye Beach is 4, but sould be 5.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

I arrived at the hotel well before 11 am, expecting to leave my bags until booking in time - no, I was shown straight to my room, and what a room! It was a Platinum Braye Beach view room. The first thing you do is look out the French door that leads to a small balcony - stunning, even when overcast. Next you look at the room, to the right was a small seating area with a couch, coffee table and a padded chair (very comfortable) and a reasonable sized flat screen TV on a chest of draws. (if your TV reception is no good, let reception know, they can fix it) The bed is a huge double, I had no tape measure, but "large" and one of the best I have ever slept on. In the wardrobe there are two towelling robes, which even fitted me 16.5 stone frame , and two pairs of disposable slippers, on the top shelf there is a small safe. The bathroom has every thing you want, fluffy towels, a full bath, and power shower and spotless. There is also a small fridge with gratis bottled water and a jug of Alderney milk to go with the tea/coffee ingredients on the shelf above. Above that shelf is another with a decanter of Sherry with glasses - I don't like Sherry so did not indulge. Now comes breakfast - some places give you a huge plate of very mediocre products that have not been well cooked or presented - with Braye Beach you get small portions, but they are the best quality, perfectly cooked and presented - I know which I prefer - Braye Beach. All in all, I will be back I can't remember who said it, Arnold Schwarzenegger or General MacArthur, but "I'll be Back!".

Room Tip: If you don't need the view, save money and go for a street view, but what a view!

Had a wonderful few days on the friendly island of Alderney. Stayed at the Braye Beach Hotel in a room overlooking the bay. The hotel was excellent. Full marks for cleanliness, food and the most helpful staff I have ever encountered in a hotel around the World! Richard the manger is a great host and should be proud of his team and hotel!

We caught the tiny plane from Southampton to Alderney and then jumped into the Braye Beach Hotel taxi mini bus to arrive effortlessly at the hotel. Check in was easy and then Richard, the manager offered to show us around the hotel, whilst our bags were delivered to our room. We had booked a room overlooking the bay and it was wonderful; one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. We had a bottle of prosecco on ice to welcome us, but resisted the immediate temptation whilst we explored the town. We ate in the restaurant later that evening and the food was excellent, with great, attentive service. The bed was large and very comfortable and we slept really well. For me, the best experience was waking the next morning to the view of the bay and throwing open the balcony doors to listen to the lapping of the waves. Magical! Breakfast was good too, my husband had a kipper, which he really enjoyed. We spent the day with electric bikes hired locally, exploring the island especially the forts and bunkers. Even though it was amazingly windy, we had a great day, culminating in another great meal. I really could not fault the couple of days we spent at The Braye Beach and would love to return again soon...... I will be looking out for an opportunity!

We had four wonderful days here and enjoyed every moment of it. The room was beautiful, the food fantastic and the staff were very welcoming and efficient. The manager Richard was friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him or his staff.
We will be staying again soon.

Visited the Braye Beach Hotel at the beginning of October. We were well looked after by the very attentive staff, especially Richard the Manager. The rooms were very comfortable and well maintained and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Although our room had a street view it did not cause a problem as the place was very quiet at that time of year. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and the island. We spent our time walking around visiting the various forts built initally in the 1800s. The Hammond Memorial near Corblets Bay commemorating the enforced prisoners who died after being shipped over to Alderney during the second World War to work on the fortifications was particularly atmospheric. All in all, a very memorable holiday.

Room Tip: Braye Beach quite spectacular so if you need a good view choose one with a sea view, however, all ar...

Braye Beach hotel was minutes from Alderney's tiny airport. After a warm welcome from receptionist Marie, a decanter of sherry waited in the sea-view room, along with some fruit.

Braye beach was an amazingly quiet place, though the town is only minutes away up a bit of a hill. Tip - go to the Library as soon as you can. There awaits the Bayeux Tapestry Finale, stitched by many of the ladies of this small community. The Library sells the Finale as joined-up postcards, so if you purchase two, you can keep one and send the other as unique postcards.

Some folk come for bird-watching, but we just took the two-hour mini-bus tour. We saw the fortifications from three eras, and the gannet colony.

Braye Beach puts on a themed dinner for Film Nights – on this occasion Italian. Locals made up most of the audience – an opportunity to chat with them – no dress code by the way. Just dress sensibly.

We left on what they call the “red-eye” - the 07.45 to Guernsey. Hotel Manager Richard Proctor kindly got us an early breakfast.

Some hotels offer a unique experience – Braye Beach is one of them.
