“Still Faultless!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012

This was our 2nd trip to Alderney and the Braye Beach Hotel and I'm glad to report that my original opinion hasn't changed, one little bit! It's still the best hotel I've ever stayed at!

All the staff, from the maintenance guy to the manager, were as friendly and helpful as ever, but a special mention must go to Nicole, the Front Office Manager, who is one of the nicest and most efficient people I've ever met!

One of the best things about this visit was the electric bikes - Last time, we visited, we hired normal bikes and Alderney is quite hilly, so we had to get off and walk, quite often! This time we could just peddle up the hills as if we were riding on the flat! The battery lasted a complete lap of the island and I am no light-weight person!

All in all, it was another quality trip and I can't recommend the combination Alderney and the Braye Beach Hotel, enough!

Room Tip: Go for the best room that you can afford and you will be rewarded with breathtaking views!

Great to have you return to stay with us at Braye Beach, so pleased you found our standards haven't dropped,
Nicole is delighted with her mention, thank you and look forward to your return. Those electric bikes have been a huge success this year.

Richard

The hotel is very well run and he service is excellent. It's in a lovely position. Some of the rooms are small and several overlook a narrow street. The menu is very modern but the management are very happy to tweak it to suit. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the bay is a delight.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side can be overlooked.

Braye Beach Hotel is a hidden gem. From the outside it looks nothing, but once inside, it looks great. Overlooking the beach and the harbour, you can sit outside for your breakfast or a drink, inside is a great restaurant and lounges together with a cinema where we watched the F1 Grand Prix.

The best bit however was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service and very pleasant service at all levels. Many London hotels could learn a lot from the Braye Beach hotel.

It is located by the harbour and it is a fair walk to the town centre. Ideal for boaters who do not want to sleep on their boat while moored up as Alderney does not have a marina.

Room Tip: A sea view will be a bonus

My family and I again returned to this hotel for the 4th year. We have 3 children and love the fact the island is safe and freindly. The hotel is situated on one of the most beautiful beaches you could hope to visit, don't take my word for it, look!. The General Manager of the hotel, Richard is 1st class taking an active interest in your comfort and stay. Nothing is too much trouble. The mood of the hotel is relaxed and calm. What more could a family ask for! Needless to say we are booked in next year.

I stayed here back in June 2012. I had heard good things about this hotel but i was totally blown away by its charm, beauty and staff. The location is quite literally on the top of the sand dunes of what i can only describe an 'idilic' beach. The room was plush and the balconette style doors opened with views out across the bay. The staff were lovely, down to earth and extremely friendly. I am already preparing to return.

My first visit to Alderney and what can I say - its wonderful, so peaceful and relaxing. The Braye Beach Hotel is one of the best i've had the pleasure of visiting. The staff were friendly, helpful, polite and nothing was too much trouble. High standards throughout and a fantastic dinner menu (try the lobster).

Not only is this hotel in a fabulous location (right on the beach) but just around the corner you can hire electric bikes to explore the island, so even if you are unfit like me its really easy to get round.

A big thank you to everyone at Braye Beach Hotel (Richard, Flavia, Nicole, Dan and Saskia to name a few) for making my visit to Alderney a very memorable one. Can't wait to come back.

Since the Royal Connaught Hotel in Alderney closed a zillion years ago, there has been no luxury hotel in Alderney. So I was delighted to see the old Braye Beach Hotel overhauled: they have made a rather cheap and cheerful haunt into a really beautifully appointed place to stay, while at the same time retaining the affection of locals by maintaining the neighbouring Divers Pub (which they also own) as a friendly drinking den. That shows an attention to local opinion that I admire, so I was well disposed to like the hotel from day one.

I usually find myself appending even quite positive reviews with a few buts. You know the type: "Lovely, but the breakfasts took hours" or "Great apart from the lumpy pillows" but I have nothing negative to say about the Bray Beach Hotel. They were charming when I booked. They were lovely when I checked in. I really mean it - even luxury hotels these days often leave you to take up your own bags. Here they wouldn't even hear of us unloading our own car. The kind gentleman at the desk was so horrified that I tried to help carry a couple of bags that he transformed himself into a walking mound of luggage to prevent me. I was touched. And they were this helpful throughout our stay, making phone calls, taking messages, setting up a nice zone for hubby to get some work done... you name it. The rooms were immaculate, the beds vast and comfy, the bathroom well equipped with nice toiletries and fluffy towels, complementary water, sherry etc.

The room was lovely, the view was amazing, and the service was a) very good and b) very personal. We really were looked after.

For those who don't know Alderney, the location is beautiful, just next to the harbour beach (Braye) with a view right across the golden bay to ruined Fort Albert on the hill. You could not be better placed. I was also impressed with the effort the hotel went to to make sure than those guests unfamiliar with the Island would have a great time and find out all the best things to do. I have been coming here on and off for 40 years, but the hotel really went the extra mile to make sure that newcomers had the best possible holiday.

All in all I have never actually stayed anywhere I would recommend this highly! There you go - best hotel visit to date anywhere. I honestly can't fault this place - book now and visit the lovely island of Alderney. You won't regret it. I, for one, will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room on the top floor overlooking the sea.
