Description: STOP PRESS... We are proud to announce we have received 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence. Having initially trained at the White Pheasant in 2005, Head Chef Calvin Holland went on to cook at some of the UK's finest multi-rosette & Michelin Star restaurants, only to return to the White Pheasant in August this year as Head Chef and Proprietor. With an emphasis on locally sourced produce alongside award winning wines, this family owned restaurant offers everything from light lunches or a traditional Sunday lunch to the finest A La Carte menu. The epitome of country dining, boasting a beautiful open fire and weathered floorboards, the Pheasant is now taking bookings for Christmas parties with a special menu of exquisite dishes designed for the winter months such as braised cheek of Hereford beef or a Ballotine of Gressingham duck. Menu's & wine lists are all available on line.

This place has been under new management for the past 10 weeks. Well done to the young chef, Calvin, whose efforts seem to much enjoyed by everyone present. My fillet steak was excellent and my husband's onion tart was delicious, The vegetables were superbly done and puddings were beautifully presented, and imaginative. Very well done, young Calvin. The ambience was splendid, and the attentive staff brilliantly lead by a charming Andrea and her husband.

We had booked in Freckenham.Because the Golden Boar was closed,we returned to Fordham. We had drinks and a superb lunch. The front of house lady,Kim,was charming. The meal was excellent. We believe the Chef earned his Michelin star in Norwich.
The next day we returned for a snack. This was also excellent.
Food beautifully prepared & served.
Hope this restaurant, under new ownership, prospers. They deserve to.

Thank you so much for your kind words & lovely review, we look forward to seeing & serving you again in the future. May I just add though that Calvin my son the Chef & Co owner actually trained at a Michelin star restaurant in Norfolk & has not achieved a Michelin star as yet himself although only 24 years old so has plenty of time to add one to his CV.
Regards Gary Holland.

My boyfriend and I came here a few weeks ago as part of a Travelzoo offer and we were delighted by the exceptional food, service and and atmosphere. It was a wednesday evening and quite quiet. The food was a 5 course tasting menu and everything was perfect. The mat was perfectly cooked and the imagination of the menu was fantastic. The presentation was excellent and the flavours were exquisite! What more can I say! With each course the chef came out to explain the food and we felt very special indeed. We will definitely return as it was a special experience and we were both very impressed!

It's good to see the White Pheasant alive & vibrant. There are all too few restaurants of quality in the area so this is good news for locals and visitors alike.

Three of us had a meal at the White Pheasant recently. The welcome & service were excellent. Sadly, the meal lacked consistency. Some things were excellent. In fact more than excellent. Others less so. Of the three starters one was absolutely fantastic with amusing presentation, one was pretty poor, over battered and over fried whitebait, and the third, soup, near cold. Of the three mains fish dishes one was overcooked. The puddings were beautifully presented and extremely good.

The wine list is sufficiently large and the wine we chose extremely fairly priced.

I wouldn't class the White Pheasant as "very good" but I wouldn't say it's "average". At the moment it's somewhere inbetween. Chef certainly has talent and flair but inconsistency is fatal.
