Owner description: The Stained Glass Museum offers a unique insight into the fascinating history of stained glass, an art-form that has been practised in Britain for at least thirteen hundred years. Our permanent gallery displays over 125 stained glass panels representing eight hundred years of the history of this ancient art, from the thirteenth century to the present day. All the stained glass panels in the gallery are displayed at eye-level enabling visitors to have a rare close-encounter with the art of stained glass. Temporary exhibitions are also held throughout the year, highlighting panels and designs from the Museum's reserve collection.

“Boring”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

For the price you pay you get a very modern shop and entrance area but the stain glass was a let down. If you want to learn anything about the glass forget it just a boring collection of stained glass with dates on. Unless you are a professional or fanatic you will be lost, even the examples are uninteresting, dull and badly lit.

You can see exactly how they do the glass. It is very neat to see the stories they tell. The perfection is amazing.

“Worth going upstairs for”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

This is really part of Ely Cathedral but you have to pay a separate entrance fee although you can buy a combined ticket when visiting the Cathedral. The best stained glass is the medieval because the colours in the glass are far superior to the more modern glass but still worth seeing.

“Over priced facility”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Please see review of the cathedral itself. Far too expensive and you can see all of it simply by walking around any church for free. First church i've known trying to make money out of looking at their windows.

“stairs a bit scary but worth it”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Stained glass from the middle ages until the present. Really fantastic. And if you think you don't like stained glass, this place will convince you otherwise. You could do this in under an hour, depending on level of interest.
