We visited the tearoom yesterday for a quiet hot drink after seeing the high street coffee shops were busy! The location is lovely, and on a beautiful late afternoon with a lovely sunset behind the cathedral it was very nice. Good service, reasonably priced for a nice tearoom. Overall a lovely place to go, would recommend and I bet it's beautiful in the sunnier months!

It has been a couple of years since I visited the Almonry but the afternoon tea is superb, the ambiance and the staff are relaxed and peaceful.

After finishing an hour's tour of Ely Cathedral, I lunched at the Almonry--a 5 minute walk from the Cathedral and the perfect place to process the experience with fine choices of well-prepared, seemingly home-cooked dishes. The menu seems to change daily, with soups, pies, sandwiches and hot dishes. I had a fine steak and kidney pie, cider, and the day's special spice cake. Cozy setting on the ground floor with views to the exterior grounds. The arcaded gothic croft below would make a fine setting as well, if you arrive early enough. Al fresco dining an option with good weather. Price is very reasonable for the quality and setting.

The Almonry has a tearoom and also a room that works as a restaurant. Both are lovely, look British traditional and are well decorated.
The tearoom has also an esplanade and whether you're inside or outside you have a great view to the Cathedral of Ely. It's a really pleasant place to be and have a meal or just a coffee.
The English Afternoon Tea is superb with lots of options to choose from and the cream for the scones is the best around, specially if compared to all tearooms I've tried in the UK.
If in Cambridgeshire don't miss this spot!
