A big thank you to Mick and his son Daniel for for inviting us to enjoy a stay at the Kingfisher South Country House in Cambridgeshire over the Easter Weekend.
The booking process was simple enough for our group which comprised 5 couples and 5 1 yr old babies. As some may appreciate, travelling with young babies you're never quite sure what may be provided or how much you'll need to pack. Both Daniel and Mick were very accommodating by providing travel cots and high chairs, and answering any other questions we had about the property to set out minds at ease before arriving.
We could immediately tell on arrival that the owners wanted to provide a good product to their guests by the quality of everything in the house. It had everything we were after in our stay and the furniture, fittings, appliances, even the crockery and cutlery were of the standard that you'd find in your own homes. This set the ladies' minds at ease. It was in a great location close enough to allow us to wander about the village of Fulbourn for a nice pub lunch, drive a few mins into Cambridge for some punting on the river Cam, and even squeeze in a round of golf nearby at the Meridian Golf Club (welcomes non members).
The house suited our group with parking for 5 cars, 3 ensuites and family bathroom, a large living area and huge outdoor garden for the babies to toddle around in, a hot tub on the patio, very large eat in kitchen / diner (which was the scene of some enjoyable dinners together), extremely comfortable super king beds to sink into in each bedroom, and most important, fast WiFi and sky for the boys and their gadgets.
Daniel was totally cool with us arriving slightly earlier than their normal check in time and checking out an hour later than originally planned as we didn’t appreciate how long it would take to pack up all our stuff with 5 babies in tow, was a bit manic in the end.
A big massive thank you also has to go to Daniel for helping to find my wife’s engagement and wedding rings that she left behind whilst in a rush to get out,. We only noticed whilst on the M11 back to London that she was missing them, and he immediately set about finding them in the house and made himself available for me to drive back to collect them later in the afternoon.
I would definitely recommend this house to others either with young kids or those travelling as a group, and Mick / Daniel were great in looking after us and making sure we were totally comfortable during our stay.
