Description: With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.

“Yummidsummer Delight”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

The real test of a great restaurant is not what service you get when the Head Chef is in residence but the service you get when they are not.
Daniel Clifford was gracing the cameras of the Great British Menu the night myself and my friend turned up to enjoy the experience of the top restaurant in Cambridge.
I need not have worried as Daniels' more than able deputy Dan Gill was on the pass. I reckon Dan will be a name we will hear a lot more of.
Everything from the welcome, to the food, to the wine, to the service, to the attention to detail, to the setting and to the real tangible friendliness of the staff were first class.
Some real highlights for me were the celery, goats cheese and horseradish starter (I don't even like goats cheese), the mushroom tortellini, the crispy hens egg with Jerusalem artichoke, smoked duck and truffle and the braised beef cheek main was quite superb.
The wine selection was great especially the Esk Valley, Pinot from New Zealand, quite delicious.
I would recommend Midsummer House unreservedly.
Go and enjoy one of the best meals you will ever have.

“A beautiful birthday treat”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

To mark my 33rd birthday my wife surprised me with a trip to Cambridge for the day including a visit to Midsummer House, a place I had wanted to go to for some time.
We went for the Taste of The Market tasting menu and would thoroughly recommend the restaurant to anyone in the area. Unusually for Michelin Star dining we actually struggled to fit it all in, and had to ask for a pause between courses to give us a breather!
Cambridge is lucky to have Daniel Clifford and his team making such wonderful food on their doorstep.

“Go!”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Put simply, "Go". Aside from the unique location, which sets this restaurant apart from many other city-based Michelin *rd enterprises, the food is a joy to behold. There is no 'parading peacock' attitude from the chef(s), staff or the food and that puts the diner instantly at ease. The menu is tasty yet technical, but don't be put off by the technical aspect because that is where the skill lies, that is the experience. Given the quality of food and the excellent service I thought it very reasonably priced. Go and enjoy it!

“A real experience”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

There are many amazing restaurants in the world - but many, as you can tell from their over opulent décors and snotty staff, overpoweringly know it! Midsummer House is totally different - you feel like your walking into a family home with the warmest of welcomes. The restaurant has all the little touches in toe, from the turning of the spoon on your dish, the always amazing wine pairing and the incredible view into the real life kitchen. But beyond all this beauty lies taste: Pineapple sorbet filtered for pureness and a wood smoked celeriac hand carved at the table........ the place leaves me even more sure that eating is the best thing to do in the world.
