“Small, cozy, like-home atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

Consistently good food (not WOW but also never disappointing). Always have a varied and interesting specials list which I look forward to trying sometime. They also have a Recession menu for those looking to cut costs (4.99). Lots of local and imported ales and beers to try plus mulled wine/cider in the winter. Very few tables which means that if you don't get there in time, you may have to sit outside (not optimal in winter but we did it and the heaters did an OK job of keeping us warm). Definitely not the place for larger parties - seats parties of maximum 8, 6 comfortably. The waiters seem to change quite a bit but the gentleman behind the bar knows what's up - and I'm pretty sure the lady who brings the food out doesn't know a smidge of English which made collecting our orders interesting.

“Lovely local with great food, great staff and a wide range of CAMRA-friendly beers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Consistently great. Rock-solid kitchen with fabulous local produce. Ever-changing CAMRA-friendly beer roster- with local mircrobrews and random highlights. Main meals around £10 - £15, but worth every pence. Recession-busting menu also available with a good range of standard meals for around £5.00. Has a couple of vegetarian options, but this place is really a treat for meat eaters- 'man' food abounds! Has a small beer garden for warmer weather- offers complimentary polar fleece blankets for those brave enough to venture out there. My favourite pub in Cambridge.

“Kingston Arms, Kingston Street.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

The Kingston has a great atmosphere and the bar staff are informative and helpful. It has free wifi which is great. The beer selection is second to none and probably the cheapest in Cambridge. e.g. Oakham JHB is exceptional and sells for £2.90 a pint. ( £2.70 for CAMRA members ). Winter days they have a coal fire which is nice and cosy.
The food is excellent and good value but unfortunately it gets booked up quickly so reserve ahead. Its a pity about the booking problem but popular Local Pubs in Cambridge seem to be doing it more often these days.
The quality of the seating is a problem and needs sorting. The low blue seats leave you with your chin on the table and the black soft cushions should be avoided. Hopefully these will be sorted out sometime soon.

“An established pub in the "Real Ale" area of Cambridge - deservedly well used”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

Talk of good pubs in the "Real Ale" district and you will always hear "The Kingston Arms".
Reputations of pubs go up and down and over the past few years the reputation of the Kingston has wavered perhaps but never a big down.
Well done to the staff and managers for being brave enough to carefully introduce new/trial ales but still stick to the regular's choice.
The food is reasonably priced and certainly sufficient for a good meal, the beer is well-kept and the staff are efficient.
Regulars are regulars for a reason and the JHB is a really good.
