“Kingston has gone downhill”
Reviewed April 6, 2011

The Kingston Arms used to be one of my favourite Cambridge watering holes (the food used to be excellent too). Recently though things have gone downhill, badly. The staff are surly and rude, the beers were tired (my most recent was a Tuesday night but still...) if reasonably priced, the food merely ordinary (and no longer good value) but worst of all was the atmosphere which held all the joy of a child's funeral. I suppose the staff are largely to blame but the presence of the large TV screen can hardly help matters. There are now much better pubs in Cambridge and I, for one, am unlikely to visit again soon.

“Terrible experience - uncooked fish, rude staff.”
Reviewed April 4, 2011

Served undercooked (bloody) fish to my pregnant wife last week. We returned the meal and the chef came out. He was aggressive and stormed off after 30 seconds. Head barman tried to charge us for the returned dish. We will never go here again.

“Excellent traditional pub with great food, can be crowded and too busy though.”
Reviewed January 3, 2011

We go to Kingston Arms a fair amount, and the only complaint we have had is that it can really get crowded on Fri and Sat nights, which overwhelms the staff. Great beer, really outstanding pub food (their Wellington thingy is particularly notable). Go during the weekday evenings, and you won't be disappointed.

“Kingston Arms IS the best pub in Cambridge!”
Reviewed June 26, 2010

To the previous reviewer... I wonder if you are affiliated with 'The Dev'? Either way, The Kingston DOES have a rather fabby Sunday roast! And it's free of tie, unlike the Dev which is obliged to supply most of it's pumps with that godawful Milton Brewery stuff. Strong words I know, but if you're going to spout rubbish, prepare to be corrected.
