“A Cambridge institution”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

Old fashion and georgous shop-restaurant with a fantastic charming front. There is always a funny display of cakes and british stuffs. A wide range of traditionnel cakes and local dishes are available.
We often came for breakfast and lunch because we like to eat in this Cambridge institution! Soups and pies are really tasty and made with fresh vegetables but it's a little bit expensive! The scones are to die for!!!!
It's really busy on week-ends and thus a little bit noisy. The ground is often dirty but we like this friendly shop-restaurant with a long communal table and an open kitchen!
It's better to book on week-end because Fitzbillies is quite popular!

“Lovely chelsea buns, but quite expensive and not a huge choice of food”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

I have visited this restaurant several times while my daughter studies in Cambridge. The fact that I I keep going back is a reflection of the fact that the food is very nice, particularly the Chelsea buns and the cream tea. However, it is expensive and the selection of food available for lunch is quite limited. If you just wanted to try the Chelsea buns these can be purchased more cheaply to take away and are always well packaged. Overall I would recommend a visit particularly if just looking for tea and cake.

“Chelsea buns...could have made them better at home (completely blind)”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

I have been on a tour around the city of Cambridge and the guide told us that Fitzbillies was the best place to have a Chelsea bun. We have been there later on and we have been welcomed is a cold way. The place is nice as the furniture and the colours were very nice. Cappuccino and latte were very well decorated.
Chelsea buns should have been the star however they served us couple of dry and tough cakes full of honey or whatever sweet liquid was. We have asked to have an explanation as was the first time we had this cake and we were told that they made the cakes in the morning therefore it is normal that int the afternoon they were dry. We asked for a couple of fluffier ones however the result was pretty the same: dry and tough and the honey was too much as we were unable to finish any of those.
I agree with those guys who said that the waitresses seem to not bother too much and despite the good place and location we waste our time.
Overpriced and they should have waved the price of the cakes and invite us to come again.
Did not hear any apologise or attempt to recovery the situation.

“Very disappointing”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

This place is very overpriced! Waitress couldn't be bothered and the cafe itself was very noisy. The cakes were good but the portion sizes didn't reflect the value. Overall a very disappointing visit.
