This is the sort of restaurant Cambridge really lacks: excellent quality, imaginative food, a couple of steps up from the 'gastropub' stuff you get everywhere else.
Service was great, venue was attractive (although the music was a bit loud...), and food was 90% excellent and 10% disappointing. It's so close to being really, *really* good - just a bit more attention to detail needed, as each plate had something that just wasn't quite right, poorly presented, a bit overcooked, and so on. As an example: we'd said we were vegetarians when we booked, but were still offered amuse bouche with fish in...and then when we said we couldn't eat it, the fishy one was taken away, and no replacement brought! It's a silly little thing, but it's the difference between a 'nice' meal out and an exceptional one.
It's not quite as exciting or innovative as, say, the Hole in the Wall, but it's a lot easier to get to! Definitely worth a try.

We're Cotto regulars - having been there at least once every month for a while now. The food, the service, the attention to detail - love everything about it!

Location isn't the best if you're a Cambridge local, but hey! The food and the ambience more than makes up for it.

Have been twice more to Cotto in the last few weeks - both for my wife's and my birthdays. People often seem to choose this restaurant for celebrations, and the staff (who deliver what seems to me a perfect combination of efficiency and friendliness) made it special in a simple and funny way: I had casually mentioned the birthday, and so they put a candle on the pudding! The food was lovely (my venison Wellington was succulent, and the desserts, chocolate concoctions, were both beautiful and delicious. And they gave us a small box of home-made chocolates as a birthday present - a charming and unexpected extra. Final comment, they seem only to take people for one sitting, so customers are never rushed, there is not a rapid turnover of clients coming and going, and so the staff have time to make sure you have a pleasant evening - the chef is quite likely to come over for a chat.

Very nice menu and beautifully presented food. Although the Creme Brule wasn't perfect (custard slightly split), the rest of the food made up for it.

situated just outside the centre, yet within walking distance, this restaurant offers a nice menu with original combinations. Staff is very friendly and the setting is cosy. All of our appetizers were inventive and could please us without remarks. Thus the expectations were high for the main courses. We found them good looking on the plates but couldn't tickle the palate as did the startes. Cheese platter and dessert were again super. Not an extensive winelist, but offering someting for everyone.
