This is what all fish and chip places should be like. Fish is fresh, chips are brilliant and service is great. Grilled or fried, fish is fresh and tasty. The restaurant is spotless and you can take as long or as little as you like.

This place is a little gem in Cambridge and fills a gap in which of all the vast restaurants in come up short: a good fish and chip takeaway. Me and my girlfriend were unsure whether to go in because it was completely empty, but we did and were greeted by all the friendly staff. The place was spotless, slightly on the clinical side, but as we were taking out we weren't too bothered. We ordered and waited for the food, which was cooked to order and tasted amazing. The homemade tarter sauce was excellent. My girlfriend lost concentration whilst eating and walking, and she ended up walking into a bush. I think it was down to the tastiness of the fish! It's such a shame that the people in Cambridge don't try it out, but one things for sure- we will become regular customers.

4 of us decided to give it a go and we were all impressed! Great service and the best chips had for a while (and believe me, we are experts in this field!). We tried the plaice, scampi and crab fish cakes, and all were spot on. £68 for 4 main courses and drinks was fine. Will definitely visit again as there is plenty on the menu we would like to try!

Sunday evening family dinner at Coast. First time and certainly impressed.

We had starters including: oysters, calamari, and mussels. All good with excellent tartar sauce!
Mains included fisherman's pie, platter for 2, and seafood linguine. The pie was excellent, full of fish and prawns. Other reviewers have commented on the veg, and this is consistent - over cooked!
The seafood platter was MASSIVE - enough for 3, let alone just 2. Cod, calamari, prawns, scampi and chips with a well dressed salad. If anything, too much fried seafood and not enough chips.
The pasta looked very nice, lots of mussels with langoustine and razor clam.

Service was attentive although food took a bit of time to come out. We were told several of the dishes were not available including the coffee!

It is a little pricey but worth the effort. Very tasty.

As fish lovers we thought we'd give this new place a go, and it was certainly worth a try. The atmosphere was quite nice, and we had a lovely table in the window of Trinity Street with a view to St John's one way and King's to the other. Starters were under-seasoned and a bit pricey for what they were, but the mains were great - the langoustine scampi in particular was quite special. Service was friendly if a bit disorganised. Overall, an enjoyable meal. We hope Coast hangs around, but it might have to bring its prices down a little to compete with the more established Cambridge restaurants.
