We have lived in England for about 18 months now and this is one of the friendliest and most welcoming pubs we have been to. If you are a local you will love it, if you are visiting then this is a great place to experience what a non-tourist pub is like. It's Free Hold which means they can sell the micro brew type beers that you think of when you think of an "English Pub".

They also have five really big rooms, some are even family suites upstairs. the location is excellent because it's within a few minutes of City Centre, the Cam River where all the rowing takes place and Cambridge University.

You can easily take a boat tour (punt) of the back of the university…called The Backs, and see the best of Cambridge and you are literally only a five minute walk from this place.

I never went to it under the old ownership but we found it amazing and they are welcoming to people that are local to Cambridge or people from anywhere in the world. Loved it….will go back soon.

We are local to the Carpenters Arm,s so we were keen to give it a try and had heard good things about it. However, from the moment we walked in our evening was a disappointment.
It was a Friday evening and the bar was empty. This was because the radio was on so loud that you couldn't have a conversation and even though the landlord couldn't hear what drinks we ordered he clearly wasn't going to turn it down. We had to go into the restaurant straight away in order to talk to our friends.
The food was OK and the waitress very pleasant, but after our initial impression we really couldn't enjoy the rest of the evening

The best pizza in town, the real italian pizza. Kind waitress, fast service. Fair prices (7 pounds for a margherita) and high quality.

The pizzeria has a wood fired oven and a true Italian chef. Really good authentic pizza at a very reasonable price. Great service too! Definitely recommended!
