Holiday Inn Express Cambridge
Ranked #12 of 36 Hotels in Cambridge
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Easy to find about 2 miles from the city centre. The location means you need a car or taxi into Cambridge although there is a path from the hotel into the city which takes about 45 mins on foot. Clean, modern hotel with pleasant bar area.
We had an issue during our stay which was not the fault of the hotel, it was due to a third party, however the response from the hotel staff was exemplary. Kate and the whole team, both morning and late shifts could not have done more.I do hope the hotel recognises the splendid, professionalism of this team, I must include the night porter in this praise also.
Thankyou all.

I've stayed here multiple times. Its a little way out of the centre (so don't expect to walk out of the hotel and be in the centre of Cambridge), its near the airport so it would be really handy for anyone wanting a stop over before flying. It has a nice view out over a small park and lake but is in the middle of a small industrial/residential area. Functional but not exactly scenic.

As HIExpress hotels go this is good. The rooms and public areas are modern, good quality and well equipped. Staff service is friendly and good.

As HI-Express hotels go, it is quite expensive but then again all hotels in Cambridge are premium priced and this is relatively good value for Cambridge.

As usual with IHG the wifi service is poor - even the premium pay for service is not lightning fast and good luck if you stick with the free wifi.

Dear Mar-Am-Uk,
Many thanks for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with our hotel.
It is a pleasure to read your positive comments regarding the rooms, and especially regarding the service from the team. However I am sorry to hear of your trouble with our Free Wi-Fi download speed, but please be reassured that this is a matter we do take very seriously and will always do our upmost to resolve any connectivity and bandwidth issues at the time with our internet provider. I hope that you will choose to visit us again on your next visit to Cambridge!

Stayed for two nights and found the rooms to be clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. What made this a lovely experience was the team who were smiling, friendly and attentive. Nothing too much trouble, they book taxi's into the city and give informative on what to do. Little seated area in the garden for a drink and watch the bunnies, which was quite apt for Easter. Didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu looked reasonable. Would definitely stay here again as it's a well run hotel

Thank you, DeirdreS, for such a lovely review of your stay over the Easter bank holiday, I know that the team have already read your comments and are as delighted as myself that you found our service to be smiling and attentive! I am glad you got the chance to see our other 'residents' the rabbits, they are certainly popular with guests especially during Breakfast! Myself and the team look forward to your next visit to our hotel! Kind Regards, Kate, Kerrie and Team Cambridge

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a night over the Easter Bank Holiday. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff were friendly. We actually arrived 2 hours earlier than the allowed check-in time but they had a room ready and waiting. We had a double room with a sofa bed on the 2nd floor. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed, including tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel also offer free Wifi during your stay. It is free parking on site too.
The hotel is a 10-15 minute drive to the city centre. Parking in the city centre is expensive. Alternatively it is approx £10 each way for a taxi. The hotel can arrange a taxi for you.
Breakfast is complimentary and they offered cereals, yoghurts, croissants, and hot food. The hot food on offer was scrambled egg, beans and sausages.
You can eat dinner at the hotel but we chose to eat out in the city centre.
As it was Easter Sunday when we checked out of the hotel, the reception were offering complimentary Rice Krispie mini egg cakes - Very lovely!
We were very pleased with our stay at The Holiday Inn Express and could not fault it at all. We would definitely recommend it.

Stayed here when visiting family.
We were shown to our room 121 which was extremely clean and tidy- we were impressed.
The only problem was when we were going to sleep all you could hear was a heavy humming noise- still not sure where it came from- it got so irritating that I called reception where a lovely lady called Caroline moved us to another room at the end of the hotel where it was quiet.
I'd recommend a room at the end of the hotel.
Aside from that minor blip we had no problems.
Breakfast was nice. There could of been slightly more choice but there was enough to suit anyone's needs.
Would definitely stay again.

We were warmly welcomed, and given a quiet room on the top floor, overlooking the lake. The room was very comfortable, with a good sized shower room, a desk, large TV and tea and coffee making facilities. We chose to eat in, and the food was acceptable, though the menu was limited. Breakfast was good, including cereal, yogurt, fruit, fruit juice, croissants and coffee. Wifi worked in the room during the first evening, but not next morning - I queried this on the way out, and was told that the code to access the internet changes every calendar day, and I should have asked for a new code in the morning!

Dear TCWorcester,
Thank you for posting a great review of your recent stay! I am really pleased to hear you found the room to be comfortable and in a nice quiet location, and you enjoyed our Express Start breakfast. Regarding the wi-fi, I am sorry to hear of the inconvenience caused as your initial code had expired, we would normally issue a code which lasts you for the whole length of your stay, which sounds like we have failed to provide this on your arrival. Rest assured I will be passing the feedback onto the team to ensure this does not happen in the future! Look forward to welcoming you back soon, Kind Regards Kate

This hotel is good for one night but if you stay longer you will need to eat out. The hotel is clean, modern and bright with decent bathrooms. Rooms well set up for business with desk, good lighting and free WI fi. However breakfast is poor unless you want cereal and toast, hot food needs improving and very little fruit on offer. Dinner is only ok but you run out of the good options after two nights. Choose carefully and don't touch the fish. However, the staff are wonderful, very friendly and helpful and the place has lots of parking and is quiet, so mixed bag really.
