“Just a little way from town, but great value!”
Reviewed May 2, 2012

The place is just outside of the main downtown, which is probably it's only drawback. If you don't mind walking a little, there is a well lit bike path that takes you straight to Mill road then another 1.25 miles you're touching the main downtown. They have buses that will pick you up at the end of the trail also and give you a ride. So don't let this hold you back.

The hotel was very nice, clean rooms, friendly staff and a comfy bed. It is everything you need. I would stay here again if I were here to visit Cambridge and not wanting to spend a ton to be in the central part of town. It is also close walk to the train station which you can take straight to London for the day. That's what I did on one of the days. I would almost recommend that if anyone is here to see any Olympic stuff and London is to expensive or crazy.

Room Tip: The street lamps are extremely bright in the parking lot. If you like to look out the window at nigh...

We thought we would go into town, park the car, and wander around. However, the city of Cambridge is parking hell. You can drive around for hours and not find anywhere to park. We eventually ended up in the railway station parking lot, far, far, far away from the entrance, and grabbed some food in a Marks and Spencer deli, and drove back to the hotel. Rooms are pleasant (think Ibis), with enough room to put our yoga mats down. The view is a bucolic one of fields, trees, grass (very close-cropped, because of the millions of rabbits), and reservoir. Super brekkie buffet (hot and cold).

Dear Guest

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your recent stay with us. I'am pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay and our product quality and service met your expectations.

We are only a few miles out of cambridge city centre, however, there are good bus connections from the hotel to get into the town. Parking in cambridge can be a difficult one so we recommend either to take a taxi, bus or even try the park and ride bus service which is wasy to get to from the hotel.

Once again thank you for your custom and we look forward to welcoming you back in near future.

Kind Regards
Sushil Gupta

My finance and I stayed here and found it beat all of our expectations. Immaculate and clean rooms, good TV and a good breakfast included in the rate. The rate was rock bottom and the service and amenities fantastic. It is very close to Cambridge CBD and introduced us to Holiday Inn Express, which we have used several times in different UK locations since.

We stayed here in a family room, 2 adults and a baby, the room was spotless and facilities great. We have stayed recently in both travel lodge and premier inn the express inn was massively better. The only let down was the hot food at breakfast which was poor quality.

There were 20 of us visiting Cambridge and we required rooms close to the town centre but we didn't want to be right in the town. We chose this hotel as it was close enough to the town but far enough to not be disturbed by all the noise of a city centre, it was roughly £8 in a taxi from the hotel to the centre of Cambridge town. We managed to get a good deal so booked here. We weren't sure what to expect as we had never stayed at a Holiday Inn before but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel looks relitively newly built or decorated, it was smart, tidy & clean. The lady on reception went out of her way to ensure we all had rooms near one another rather than be scattered around the hotel. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The reception area leads onto the bar & seating areas, all of which were nice & tidy and it is a very bright & fresh looking area but the bar drinks seemed to be on the slightly dearer end. The rooms are clean & again appear newly decorated, with nice bathrooms that have a shower and no bath but this suited us perfectly. It has a bowling alley in the same complex however we didn't try this out. There were a few groups of "Stag do's" but I can honestly say you couldn't hear any noise from other guests, just the occassional door closing which happens in any hotel. The beds are very comfortable & there were a choice of soft or firm pillows which were labelled to make it clear which pillow was which. The rooms came with enough towels for the 2 of us and it also had a hairdryer and plenty of plug sockets too. The breakfast in the morning is your basic hotel breakfast, there's a selection of cold & hot options in the buffet section along with a good choice of drinks. Overall we feel this hotel was excellent for the price we paid and we would definitely stay here again should the need arise.

I've stayed here a number of times now and have always been pleased with the quality of the rooms and the cost per night. The choice of food at breakfast is varied and the quality it good. Its a great base to explore Cambridge although you are a few miles away from the main city and will have to drive in.
