“Bond's villain is operating from here”

Legend has it that Massaros has the best coffee in Cambridge. It is certainly very good coffee and reasonably priced. This is a proper Italian coffee bar run by proper Italians, and you can tell from the food. The back room is full of 30 something geeks tapping away at their pc's - one can imagine the villain from the latest Bond moving hacking into MI6 whilst drinking coffee here.

As a New Yorker moving to Cambridge from London a few years ago, I despaired of ever finding decent coffee in this city. Massaro's was the first place I found it; in the past year or so a few more have opened. The owners of Massaro's are charming and they take coffee very seriously. Unlike some of the other recently-opened and better-quality coffeeshops in town, the slightly out-of-the-way location of Massaro's (even though it's in city centre) means this place doesn't get the traffic it deserves. It's so quiet sometimes that I am constantly terrified they may go out of business despite their superb coffee, delicious pastries and sandwiches, ethically sourced ingredients, and general wonderfulness. Massaro's is a gem for anyone who values an excellent, well-made cup of coffee in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

This is the kind of place you queue for 30 minutes at in New York or San Francisco: seriously, the best in Cambridge...

It isn't the cheapest but I can barely drink coffee anywhere else in Cambridge now...

Great Ciabatta's too.

As a Kiwi in Cambridge, I despaired of getting good coffee until Massaro's opened. They take their coffee very seriously and it definitely shows in the quality of every cup. It is also reassuring to see their enthusiasm extends to ethically sourced and very tasty food. You may pay slightly more, but you definitely notice the difference. I'm sold on the place and I'd highly recommend it to anyone else who wants the best in coffee.

Wonderful coffee here at Massaro's - the latte macchiato comes highly recommended, as do the sfogliatelle. But if you're eating lunch, you might want to look elsewhere - at £6.95 to eat in, their sandwiches are the most expensive in the hood!
