Due to my husband working in Cambridge I have stayed at Oakley Lodge quite a few times in the past few months. It's a lovely home from home place to stay. It's nice to see the girls being so cheerful when they are cleaning the rooms. The breakfasts are cooked to order and really set you up for the day. Jenny and Steve are a lovely couple who really try to cater to individual needs. The bus into Cambridge is just around the corner and there are a number of take aways very nearby. Also Shanti just across the road, an Indian restaurant which we highly recommend. All in all Oakley is a great base to sightsee from and even if you fancy a quiet day they have a lovely comfy lounge.

I stayed for 3 nights at this family run hotel on the outskirts of the city at the end of January 2012.
I found the management and staff to be friendly. The rooms had been refurbished some six months previously and were immaculate. The breakfast was nicely cooked and was more than adequate for me.
There is a bus running every 10 minutes into town from a nearby stop.
The hotel was fairly empty whilst I was there due to the time of year etc. and so was was quiet.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 5, a single en suite, positioned away from road.

The staff was very friendly and the rooms are sufficient for a one-two night stay. Convenient if you hold a bus pass into town otherwise no so. Neat but not clean. Family owned and operated so do not be surprised if even the family dog comes to greet you at the reception.

Room Tip: Book a room not facing Newmarket Road as this tends to be a busy and noisy street whilst trying to s...

I stayed here with friends and as a base, it met our needs but I wouldn't take my other half for a romantic break. We were staying in the annexe which was clean enough but the room was small and quite cramped. The landlady was efficient but not especially friendly; this, and the family photos in the dining room made us feel a little like we were intruding in someone's home rather than guests at a bed and breakfast.

Oakley Lodge is some distance from the centre of Cambridge (20-30 minute walk) but I would make the point that it is very close to the bus route and the buses are every 5 minutes.

Our stay was ok but I wouldn't rush back!

Very poor B&B. Tiny room, even tinier bathroom. Window falling apart, although it would have been important to close properly, given that the room was facing a very busy road!). Lamp not working. Breakfast edible, but served only later than stated in the leaflet. Next time I would rather pay a few pounds more and stay somewhere nicer!

Room Tip: Don't book a room towards the busy road.
