Very shabby from outside, but looks acceptable inside. Rooms are small, but have all essential things. Sleep quality is good. Wi-fi internet is available for 1GBP per day. Breakfast is tasty, staff is friendly and caring. Dinner is available from 18:00 until 20:45. Food prices are affordable. Hotel is reachable by bus from Cambridge train station for 4 pounds, but taxi costs 10 pounds.
Rooms are warm, but not soundproof, so prepare to hear all sounds from all rooms near yours.

A most unwelcome welcome! No interaction upon arrival other than ' here are the keys and this is your room. Room was smelly, shower overflowed and so floor was dirty and sinking. Very expensive for very poor accommodation and welcome. Breakfast was fine and waitress very pleasant _ a welcome change! Would not recommend.

I really had a nice time staying at Lovell Lodge. The booking was excellent and i was promptly received when i arrived.

I also enjoyed my stay, the room was cozy and well light. The receptionist was equally friendly and the breakfast was just perfect.

I will highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cambridge.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor are better

I have to admit that I booked here with some trepidation as I generally prefer to stay in less basic accommodation. However, my fears were unfounded. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful, the place was almost spotless and the light and reasonably sized rooms were well equipped with storage, mirrors and plenty of towels. The quality of the ingredients in the cooked-to-order breakfast puts other more upmarket hotels to shame as did the service and disposition of the waiting staff.

There are a few quibbles - the ensuite shower/loo was a little small and the washbasin was situated in the room itself (with no plug!). However, one cannot expect perfection for the extremely reasonable price.

I would strongly recommend this hotel for those lookiing for a budget stay in Cambridge; the centre of town is a £10 taxi ride away and there are also buses if you are really economising. Although it is not what I am used to I had an very comfortable bed for the night and others could learn from the high standard of service provided.

Room Tip: It is worth noting that the hotel is on a main road so if you can't sleep with traffic noise, yo...

Unfortunately, when we stayed here for a weekend, the saturday night was ruined by a group of men travelling together at the hotel. They were shouting and running up and down the corridors in the middle of the night. We were unaware that this hotel accepted all male groups, as these individuals seemed to be on a stag do and intent on making noise and getting drunk. None of the staff at the hotel intervened at any stage, or apologised for the disruption in the night. This ruined the weekend for both of us.

I booked a family room here, so I could spend the weekend with my daughter and grandchild, on being shown to our room, both my daughter and I noticed a bad smell, but didn't immediately complain, just thought we would open the windows and air the room, we decided to move the bedside cabinet, so we could push the beds together and the beds against the wall, so little one was safer, as the beds were fairly high, the carpet under the bed, was grey with congealed fluff, hair and dust, no way could you put a baby or young child down on a floor that dirty, I went down and complained, a member of staff did come straight away with a Hoover, and did the patch visible, the Hoover smelt bad. I then with a critical eye looked round the rest of the room, black mould in the bathroom, dust on all surfaces, the sheets thankfully were clean, though the pillows smelt none too fresh. I was pleased to only have booked one night, breakfast was plentiful, the food was not great quality though, I think the mushroom were tinned, they tasted rank! I had paid £100 to stay here, I would not stay again. I say its a shame, because all these factors could so easily be rectified, it just seems like the staff don't really care.

Room Tip: Somewhere other than this place

Whilst we stayed at the Lovell Lodge Hotel at the time of our Granddaughters graduation from Jesus College it would serve as a great base for anyone visiting Cambridge or the surrounding area.
Our rooms were very comfortable, the en-suite and towels were immaculate, the Breakfast Room was delightful and everything you could ask for at Breakfast.
The young lady on reception was lovely and extremely helpful.
On site car parking was a bonus and all this at very reasonable rates.
All told a very pleasant stopover at Lovell Lodge. Many thanks to all concerned.
