Just came across this by chance, proper dinosaur bones and everything. I particularly liked the gem collection.

Excellent museum, with a huge collection to view. Some large impressive fossils. Lots of information aimed at both adults and children.
There is a small book area for the little ones, and a more interactive area for older kids to enjoy. I particularly like the historical information about how the museum and collection have been put together.
There is an excellent Darwin area with lots of history, visuals and hands on stuff!
A bonus is that it's free! Worth a visit for a while on a cold rainy day in Cambridge!

Such an amazing museum and so interesting...very lucky to have this museum here. Do take advantage and visit it...there is something there for all ages. My grandchildren adore it and always want to go to the "dinosaur" museum when they come to visit us. I always learn more and more every time I visit it too. A great place.

The inside is full of rocks and fossils. Many collected by Darwin himself. But don't forget to check out the outside of the building: the two bears on either side of the stairs leading up to the museum, the carved bison, iguanodon, sloth, and mammoth on the walls. There's also a weathervane visible from the courtyard shaped like an Icthyosaurus.

The museum's displays are old style, wooden cases with glass doors. Very beautiful and reminiscent of a bygone era.

The only other place I have seen this many fossils in the National History Museum in London. Soooo many fossils! Very interesting to browse around for half an hour. They also have gemstones and a few fossilized skeletons/bones.
