There always seem to be some loud event here in the summer. Heavy vehicles churn up the ground and leave mud everywhere. Least attractive of the Cambridge green spaces.

What a pleasant place to spend an hour or two in Springtime or Summer. Midsummer Common is a little piece of Middle England to savour a sunny day. The backdrop features the tops of the historic colleges and churches of Cambridge. Great place for couples and families to enjoy the lush greenery and the fresh air away from the bustle of the city centree the dog for a walk, take a picnic lunch, whatever, enjoy.

First Saturday in June! If it's your kinda thing, it's awesome, personally, I love it. I've gone for years and will continue to go for years. If you have no idea what it is, get on their website, or just turn up, totally free and an awesome social day out

One of the many great things about Cambridge is the central common land. Midsummer common starts a few minutes' walk from the centre - go to the end of King's Street and you'll see it (though strictly, this part of the common is called Butt Green). Walking along the tow path is a popular activity as is watching the world go by from the outdoor seating area of the Fort St George Pub. Cattle graze here through much of the summer. On some occcasions there are fun fairs on the common, but mainly it feels like being in the countryside.
