Great location, but the traffic noise was awful. The brochure picture leads you to believe that the river and grassland belongs to hotel, but sadly no. The river is on the other side of the busy road and there is no expanse of lawn infront..We had to queue for 15 minutes to be seated for breakfast !

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back. Eat your breakfast in the conservatory !

Many people have said that it's the location that makes this hotel popular, totally agree. After spending two nights here I cannot help but feel that the hotel could be so much better. The décor although not to every ones taste, is fine, the staff are business like, rather than friendly, the rooms are adequate, the food is more than edible, but it lacks something. I think it could be a great hotel given the location being first class. Just needs the will from the management to make it so. Would I stay here again............yes no problem because of where it is, nothing was bad but then, very little was good. Average in every in every sense of the word. Beds were not comfy and a little on the small size, like the room.

This hotel is very well situated for visiting Cambridge, and has the advantage of a large, free, car park. However the reception area can only be reached via a flight of steep steps from the main road, or up a long staircase from the car park. The bar, restaurant and conservatory are situated on the floor below reception, and there are three floors of bedrooms above these, and no lift..... Having broken my leg two weeks earlier I was fortunate that they were able to offer me a ground floor room in a separate building next to the car park. If this had not been available, I am not sure what I would have done.

The room was small with rather a small window so was a bit dark. Minimal lighting, dark wood fixtures and dark orange carpet, curtains and upholstery accentuated rather than relieved the gloom. However the room was comfortable and well equipped with tea making facilities, two chairs, a full length mirror, bedside tables and lots of hangers. No safe.

The bathroom was as tiny as it could possibly be, and my husband and I were glad that we were both fairly slim so fitted! The shower was good, and there were plenty of towels, but nowhere to put toiletries, make-up, etc. A disabled person in our party could not shower as the shower was too narrow to take his chair.

Breakfast was adequate if not exciting.

Expensive for what you get, but you pay for the location.

This hotel is conveniently located next to the Cam river, about 5 minutes walk from the city. The hotel is comprised of two separate buildings. I stayed in the one next to the road, which had a nice view, but was noisy.
As far as I know there are no lifts in the hotel, which is problematic if you have a problem carrying your suitcases 3 floors.
The room was smelly (mold?), but of reasonable size. Small TV, chairs, and a coffee pot were included.
Breakfast was rather minimal, especially if you don't fancy bacon and eggs (Note to hotel: A few vegetables would be nice).

There was limited choice of accommodation in Cambridge centre when we booked a room at Arundel House at short notice for Saturday 1st June. Its location was ideal for us as we were attending a wedding at Castle Hill with reception at the Galleria,so were only a few minutes walk from each point.
We arrived early so enjoyed a very reasonably priced, well cooked, meal in the dining bar while we waited for our room to become available (well in advance of the official check-in time of 15.00 hrs.
No problem with finding space for our car in the well laid out parking areas.
We were given a room in the 'Stables' just outside the rear of the main hotel, by the car park and found the room to be very clean, spacious, well equipped and quiet.
Our booking included a continental breakfast, but we opted to pay the extra £7.95 for a 'Full English' which was well presented, well cooked and plentiful, in addition to cereal, fruit etc.from the buffet.
The restaurant was quite busy mid-way through the opening time and we had to wait 10 minutes or so for a table, which when available was relaid while we collected cereal, but unfortunately we were forgotten about when we returned to the table (It didn't appear to happen to anyone else), so we did sit waiting to attract the attention of a member of staff. No proper apology was given.

Generally we found the staff polite and attentive an checking in and out painless.

Relatively good value for money at the internet booking discounted price and we would certainly stay again as the location is convenient and good.

Room Tip: We didn't see what rooms in the main building were like (although some are 'basement rooms') but the Stables room that we had was very good and quiet. (occasional elephant charge in room above!)
