I stay at this hotel regularly, typically 4-5 times a year. It is ideally located just 5 minutes walk from Cambridge station, which also helps if you need a taxi, often difficult to get in Cambridge ! It is a traditional style hotel rather than a modern corporate hotel, which I like. The rooms are perhaps a little small but well finished with all the amenities required, including tea/coffee making facilities etc. I've never had any problem with noise, despite it being on the main road. Free wifi is good as well. Their restaurant does an excellent value fixed price menu, which I always find to be of very good quality. The house wine is quite acceptable and a very good price. Breakfast is equally good - cooked to order rather than a buffet that has been cooked to death. Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel and I will certainly stay there again.

I stayed here 2 nights this week in June and could not have chosen better. If what you are seeking is comfort, friendly and professional service at a good price then this is the place for you.

The rooms may be a liitle traditional but my bed was super comfy and spotless as was the bathroom. Plus the hairdryer was better than my own! Breakfast was a choice of full English (or variations of), with cereals, toast and juices/fruit.

This family owned hotel is ideal for business and as a single female traveller, I felt at home. What's more I didn't hear a peep in the night. It's super convenient for the railway station and centre of Cambridge was a short stroll away.

I will be back!

I stayed one night on 2 June for a meeting the next day. The food was excellent, but the staff need to remember that you can hear everything they say in the kitchen in the dining room. My room was small but clean. I was near the stairs which was noisy. Parking is free and the wifi is good and comes in the room price. I paid £101.50 so not cheap. I would return but ask for another room.

Our fault; didn't read the small print - but we made a booking through Booking.com which was advertised as free cancellation. There was actually a £20 cancellation fee from the time of booking which didn't become clear until the initial email response to the booking, so even if you cancel in good time, you will pay £20. Shall book more cautiously in future.

I was a bit nervous after reading some if the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the old world charm decor - makes it different from the crowd. I was comfortable and happy to sleep in a very decent size bed and both dinner and breakfast were decently cooked. What makes it a nice place to stay though are the staff who are interested in making your stay pleasant - they are friendly and look like they actually enjoy what they do. There are loads of decent hotels around but good customer service is hard to find. Thanks guys!

I arrived late in the evening: the hotel is well placed for transport with its own free car park and it is near the train station. Plenty of buses into the city centre for the morning, I thought. First impressions: warm, welcoming, friendly, clean. Even a pen available when I had forgotten mine.
However.... it was good for one night at most. I could not have stayed two nights in an attic room with the eaves so low over the bed and even over 50% of the bath. Only a handheld shower. I kept on hitting my head getting in and out of bed and turning over in the bed and walking round the room and using the shower. Even being careful. Probably the most uncomfortable room I have stayed in for many years. See the pix. In house Wi-Fi in the attic was good enough for the least demanding tasks. Breakfast started at 7.30 at which point the small dining room was full. If you are tempted by the location, make it clear you will not accept a room in the roof.

Stayed here for five nights. Breakfast timing was short, 7:30 am to 9 am only. Hot breakfast was average but the service was prompt. No facilities except for a sitting/living room next to the reception. AA rated it 3 stars and it is probably accurate for a city like Cambridge. Interior decor of the room reminds me of the 1980s! And they are still using regular metal keys for the doors, good for those who's into nostalgia, ha! No bar fridge provided in the room though the bare toiletries (shower + bath), hair-dryer, face and bath towels are provided. Coffee and tea making utensils are provided though no tissue box provided. Carpet is looking really tired and exhausted and barely there. Small LCD TV and a dressing table provided. Is within 5 minutes walk to the train station and to a Costa outlet near Brookgate (a new residential development). If one is willing to walk further, there is a Travelodge further down Hills Road at the Cambridge Leisure centre. Nothing fantastic and nothing horrible. Just a polite and unassuming hotel in Cambridge.
