Plus points are that it is clean, there is good free parking and it is within walking distance of the centre of Cambridge. The room was very small and cramped and the television only got the five terrestrial channels, despite two requests for it to be fixed. The bath was very chipped and damaged and the safety mat would not attach to it. There were no handles or aids to help getting in and out of the shower which was above the bath so that my companion was unable to take a shower for fear of falling. The stairs are very steep and we had no help with luggage when checking out. On our return on the second day, the room had not been cleaned at all, water glass left dirty, tea cup removed, beds covered over but not made. Breakfast was very limited. Eggs cooked in every way plus "full English" accompanied by sliced bread toasted, small pats of butter and plastic packs of jam. On the second day I asked for a croissant and the serving person was quite shocked, they only served the cheap sliced bread. No bowls of grapefruit or even the dreaded prunes, no cold buffet, not even cheese. All this would have been acceptable in a budget B&B but we were paying £120 per night, far too much for the standard of this hotel.
