Looking at the building from the outside is already an amazing experience, even though renovations were taking place. Staff in the reception area was very kind and interested in what my children wanted to see. Visiting the museum and having stored away your belongings were free of charge. You are able to take pictures with your camera (without flash). We first visited the ancient Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Sudan collections in the basement, covering various topics (tools, funerals, politics, sports, ...) having many artefacts in good condition. Next we went on to visit the sections with international paintings; drawings and prints from the past 800 years. Being from Belgium it was nice to view several paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck. The entire set of collections was quite impressive and we spent a lot of time enjoying watching them. Due to time restrictions we unfortunately couldn't visit all of the collections. Overall time well spent - highly recommended when visiting Cambridge for several days.
