We left Cambridge several years ago and came back to spend some time with friends over the New Year . The Varsity was recommended to us as THE place to stay in Cambridge . Location is central surrounded by dozens of restaurants but in a quiet side street. The staff friendly and our room 114 had a fabulous four poster bed , room had all the usual mod cons large TV , DvD , Ipod and plenty of fancy magazines , you get the picture. There was no great view but the room more than made up for it.
We had dinner in Cote which was excellent, reasonably priced and lunch at The Mitre pub round the corner which was also fine.
The gym is huge and the spa has a fantastic jacuzzi overlooking the river. We ordered room service breakfast which was plentiful and the rest of the day was spent wandering around. And Cambridge yes it's prettier than ever.More
