Simply the best hotel in Cambridge! My daughter has been living in Cambridge for three years and this November all the family went for her graduation. We've stayed in many other hotels in Cambridge but none were worth the money for the service or amenities. Finally the Varsity offers an experience worth paying for. The rooms were fabulous, spacious and modern but with a hint of English tradition and style. We felt very welcomed from beginning to end and even the breakfast was great. The really special treat though is the roof terrace with the most amazing views over the city. In general a wonderful experience and a hotel we will definately visit again.

Great location near downtown Cambridge. Rooms are spacious and modern. Bathrooms have heated towel racks and some with heated floors, a wonderful experience. Beds are heavenly comfortable with nice bedding. The ultimate in clean and comfort. The level of customer service is excellent. Guest feel very welcomed and every need is meet with consistent excellence. I would recommend to any traveller.

Room Tip: Any one of the rooms is a can't miss

Great hotel which we booked for our first wedding anniversary. Small boutique style really worked well. We stayed in the Master Suite - Jesus.

Amazing room. Separate lounge, huge leather sofa and wrap around floor to ceiling glass walls. Probably the best tea and coffee making selection I've ever seen. Espresso machine, cafetire and a range of teas and coffees with fresh milk and cookies 'on demand'. Perfect.

Large bedroom with lovely furniture, subtle 4 poster and the same wrap around windows looking out over the river, parks and Cambridge full stop.

Not only the kind of room you don't want to leave but one where you want to keep the curtains open!

We ate in their Steakhouse grill which also had great views next to the river . A fantastic breakfast was served here too.

Highly recommend and will be back.

Lovely room very comfortable, we stayed in a superior double room, which was huge with a lovely balcony and fabulous bathroom with great fittings. We didn't use the Spa but did go to the bar in the evening. Breakfast was lovely and we were suprised how busy it was as the hotel had seemed very quiet. Would definately go again next time swe visit Cambridge

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside room as the views are better

This small hotel has great views from the higher floors over the roof tops of Cambridge. We stayed in room 511 which has full height windows to two walls, a four poster bed and a great shower room. We would happily stay again, the staff were very pleasant and it's close to everything Cambridge has to offer.

Having enjoyed an incredible stay at The Varsity during the summer, we could not wait to return in October - needless to say it did not disappoint! Consistency of service is a massive achievement in the hotel industry, and for the level of excellence achieved by their service on our first visit to be replicated upon our return, is a real feat!

We stayed in a different room this time (a Senior Fellows Suite) and it was just as perfect as our previous stay, the main difference being the free-standing claw-foot bathtub, which was a fantastic feature!

We also tried some different spa treatments - a full body massage and a pedicure and both were great - the spa is very relaxing and professionally run by friendly therapists.

Unfortunately, we couldn't bring ourselves to try anything different on the menu as we loved what we had at the River Bar Steakhouse so much - baked camembert to die for and a juicy steak!

All in all, this will certainly become a regular weekend away and we are always highly recommending it to friends who are looking for a special weekend away.

I stayed at the Varsity about 1 year ago for a couple of nights. The double room was very small and not that great for the price that it was. The most disappointing part was that the jacuzzi in the spa was broken.. I had picked the Varsity specially so that I could have some time to relax in the spa. When I asked the staff about it they shrugged and said they couldn't get anyone to fix it because it was the weekend. They didn't apologise properly or offered anything to make up for it.
