Owner description: This heritage-listed Botanic Garden was originally conceived by Professor John Henslow, the mentor and teacher of Charles Darwin. The Garden's plant collections today number over 8000 species from all over the world, displayed within the best collection of trees in the region. The 40 acres of beautifully-landscaped gardens and glasshouses offer year-round interest and seasonal inspiration. The excellent Cafe and Shop are also open year-round. An oasis in the City, this great Garden makes a great day out. Please note our Christmas closure from 24/12/17 - 1/1/18 inclusive.

I used to work on Bateman Street and we had company passes for the gardens, I was a regular visitor. Pleasant location where lots of different types of people go to relax, not just to look at the plant collections.
If you have toddlers, be aware of the water features.

Allow about 2 hours with a nice coffee break in the lovely café. Very interesting and calming gardens with lots to see.Take spare walking shoes if a bit damp.
Only let down was at the entarance- the staff are not welcoming and were rather rude to the lady in front of me about using her husbands ticket. but hey its about the gardens and if you like gardens then you wont be disappointed,

In the middle of Cambridge there goes unnoticed this haven of peace and tranquility. Trees and flowers galore. Also a hot room and a tea room to boot. Worth more than just one visit

We paid £4.50 each to get in - you had to pay more if you wanted to gift aid the money so we didn't! That's strange in itself as the point of gift aid is that it doesn't cost the customer more but the recipient receives more!
Anyway, we managed to eek out an hour as there really wasn't too much to see - it's all very much the same as you go from point to point which is a shame as we had really been looking forward to our visit.
